Duncans Poultry Economy 10 Hole Chicken Nesting Box

This is thin metal and I’d be surprised if it didn’t get slightly bent somewhere in shipping. That being said, it’s thin and bends back very easily. It’s not a piece of art and will be covered in dust and crap so cosmetic dents shouldn’t be a concern. I first used a hand riveter with the rivets supplied and it was a pain so I hooked up my pneumatic riveter and was done in ten minutes with the help of my wife holding. Instructions suck, period, but I didn’t use them after a quick glance at pictures on Amazon. WELL worth the price for a sturdy, well designed unit.

Once you get it together, you will have a nice nesting box. The instruction sheet is almost worthless. It would be nice if they had put stickers on the pieces so you knew what went where. You mostly have to look at the picture and go from there. Also I wish they used bolts instead of pop rivets. I have a very good pop rivet gun but it was all I could do to pop them. If you buy one of these, go buy a long handle rivet gun. It will save your hands, arms and a lot of time. Like a said, once put together you will end up with a nice easy to clean nesting box at a good price.

I’m glad I didn’t read to reviews before purchasing this. They are silly. To be honest, a few pieces were bent on the edges when I opened the box. That is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Beyond that, it was easy to assemble by myself, in 90 degree heat, while 7 months pregnant. The instructions are written like a mechanical drawing, and the pieces are not labeled. I laid out all the pieces, and mock assembled a few of them with zip ties. Assembly was pretty self explanatory, and didn’t really need instructions. If you need help, look at the product photos where you purchased it. Everything except the perches are assembled with rivets. It mentions in the description that you need a rivet gun. I got one on amazon with 500 assorted rivets for $16. I did not use screws to attach the hangers on the back. I used the largest rivets (that came with my gun) to attach them. I made sure to add two on each hanger. I put a picture of how I did it on here. All in all, it was easy, and worth the money! Will buy again when our flock grows!

The directions suck!! Look at the pictures from previous buyers because that is more helpful. Please have someone write better directions. Other then that my chickens love it and so do we. Great product!!

Product came early but when I opened the box several pieces were bent and kinked. The installation instructions were horrible, there were several rivets missing, fortunately I had some. None of the pieces were marked, and there were alot of sharp edges. Once we put it together it was sturdier than I expected. Overall I give it 3 1/2 stars.

This is my third Duncans nesting box, I purchased my first 2 used, I almost fell out of my chair when I found this through a random search. Great assembly instructions and I had a great time with my 6 year old grandson putting it together. As my Flock continues to grow I will definately purchase this product again.Bob Janis, Amery WI
