It's Greek To MeChicken Soup, Greek Style, 20.2 Ounce (Pack of 12)

I love this soup. I've actually made my own Avgolemono soup in a big pot but it's a tricky process. This is so convenient and tasty. I like to have it at night if I've missed supper or if I don't want anything too heavy. I'll definitely be keeping it around for cold flu season (now) too. I've only been able to find it in one grocery store in my area (Publix) so it was worth it to me to buy a whole case. It's delicious with some warm fresh bread and seasoned olive oil for dipping.

When I lived in Mi. there were many Greek restaurants to the best in fine dining. My favorite lunch was egg lemon soup served over 1/2 roasted chicken with Greek herbs and lovely pita bread. It was great to get a serving to go as a single chicken breast was plenty. When I moved to Colorado there was only a casual place that served Gryos. I missed the food so much..When I found this soup a few years ago I doubted it would come close so I was pleasantly surprised. Buy a rotisserie chicken and that is as close as I got to great Greek. (There are so many wonderful Greek dishes and if you want to open a fine dining Greek restaurant in Lexington, Ky where I now live I promise to dine frequently.) While the restaurant soup was richer I actually like this one better as it is a more broth based lighter version. If I add the chicken, I also give it a squeeze of fresh lemon which intensifies the lemon in the soup.I can't find a grocery that carries this anymore so I was thrilled to find it here. It was only feasible to buy the multipack, but I will go through them quickly. I have tried other canned version and there is just no comparison.

I love this brand! Of course it’s not like homemade but the flavor is definitely there. The only issue is shipping…all but ONE can came dented and most of those had small to major leaks. Avgelemono was all over the plastic wrap that enclosed the case. Thankfully the piece of cardboard absorbed a good bit of it. I called Amazon and they helped resolve the issue.

So. It’s not my mother’s but it’s pretty close. I add more lemon (or even some lime) juice to get it there. Definitely recommend. I usually get them with a few dents so only 4 lemons…stars.

Wonder to have immediate access to this soup. It is a household favourite! We have spent time on Samos and had this type of soup regularly. It’s great that it’s available in the USA.

When I opened the first can of this soup, it smelled just like the avgolemono soup my Greek mother used to make and it tasted just as good too. I absolutely love it. I've gone through one 12-pack and already stocked up on another couple of 12-packs.Anyone who has made avgolemono soup knows how time consuming the process is. With this canned soup, I never again have to make my own. As for the reported shipping issues, I've encountered none of those.

This is the best canned soup. Love it!
