Once upon a Mastodon: All About Prehistoric Mammals (The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library)

I don't think I'm ever let down by Dr. Suses. This book sparked interest in my kid, got her asking questions and learning.

This is my 4 year olds favorite book!! It’s so hard to find books for younger kids on the ice age. Most books, games, and puzzles are either focused on the Ice Age movie or are geared towards older kids. My daughter LOVES the ice age and ice age mammals and I was so happy to be able to find this book! We love the cat in the Hat learning library books and this one is just as great as the others. It touches on the popular mammals (smilidons, mammoths, mastodons, dire wolves, ground sloths), but also talks about lesser known mammals (aurochs, short faced bear, giant horse, etc). It teaches about fossils, how they’re found, where they’re found, and what paleontologists learn from them. The end of the book has a few pages about cave man culture and cave wall art. It’s a fantastic book and should be a welcome addition to any budding paleontologist’s library!

How many times can a little boy want this book read?? at least once a day

A new book to add to our collection of cat in the hat. I bought this for our mammal unit. Not as large as our other books which was a bummer.

Cute Cat-In-the-Hat learning library book. It teaches children about some of the prehistoric mammals that dominated the earth after the dinosaurs died. While kids LOVE dinosaurs, they also like mammoths and saber-toothed cats. Quite a few prehistoric mammals are mentioned. The picture included here is a mastodon from the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

ordered this twice, received the wrong book both times. the front and back cover are the Mastodon book, but the inside is a book about Cats. Very strange.
