DR SEUSS COULDN'T HAVE DONE BETTER
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through the Early Reviewer giveaway on LibraryThing.com and the following is my honest opinion. As I read this book I couldn’t help but sense how the spacing of this author’s writing resembles all the wonderful books by Dr. Seuss I read growing up as a child of the 1950’s. The illustrations, which have also been done by the author, echo those by Seuss as well; which leads me to suspect it had been this well-known author/illustrator who has influenced Mr. Lightburn in writing this captivating book whose underlining theme of recycling and waste disposal manifests itself in the imagination of a little boy.Although there’s no mention of what had precipitated the boy’s somewhat nightmarish dream on this particular night, but I think the cause of it can be explained by the surprised looks of his parents at the end of the book. The lack of the boy’s name adds to the strength of the story as it is being directed at the child who’s reading the story by the use of the word “YOU.” Boys at the age for the target audience of the book tend to ignore their parents plea to clean up their room, and this book is attempting, in addition to its message, to change their ways. While this book seems to be directed at the boys, girls would also benefit from the book’s message by telling them what might happen if they start to act like the boys with their messy ways. This doesn’t change my opinion of the book, but I feel a handful of pages would have been an easier read if the color selected for the font were lighter in color. The other side of the book’s cover has a wonderful illustration for the book itself which can be used as poster. For the delightful reading experience, I’m delighted to give this book 5 STARS.

a fun story that doesn't stink
Frankenstink! Garbage Gone Bad is written and illustrated by Ron Lightburn of Nova Scotia, Canada. I was privileged to meet Ron at his book signing in April and was delighted that he personalized a copy of Frankenstink! for me and one for my grandson.First of all, the cover glows in the dark and the book jacket is a poster!Written in fun rhyme, Frankenstink! is the story of a little boy who would not clean up his room. He simply kept shoving stuff under his bed, until … one night it mutated into a huge garbage monster. Oh my! The monster was hungry for trash first and became more and more greedy. After devouring everything it could find to eat in the house, it moved on down the street to the neighbours’ garbage cans and beyond, growing bigger and smellier and nastier as it went. I won’t give away more than that about the story, except to say there is a satisfying funny surprise ending. The author’s descriptions along with his illustrations make this book an enjoyable environmental adventure. The gooey, oozy, garbage monster will have young readers eagerly turning pages to follow its progress.Ron Lightburn wrote this book with a lesson in mind for children. He made recycling, composting, and cleaning up very memorable in an entertaining way through showing the experience of one young boy who refused to do them. Frankenstink! Garbage Gone Bad is a wonderful book for children of all ages and ideal for the classroom. This book will appeal more to boys because of some of the words and creepy images the author included, but it will also appeal to girls who love a good story. And it’s simply a gorgeous book!

Better Clean That Mess Up Under Your Bed!
Frankenstink! Garbage Gone Bad is a delightfully amusing story of all the detritus a young boy shoves under his bed and what happens to it when he doesn’t clean it up. If your young child is prone to nightmares and fears of monsters under the bed you may have to remind them that this story is imaginary – and that cleaning up his/her room would be a good precaution. At first glance, the pictures did look a little frightening (as my 19-year-old pointed out. But when you started to read the story it really wasn’t scary at all. I loved the nice clear font that the author chose for the text and how some of the words were written larger and bolder or illustrated the word. For example the word slithering was written in an up-and-down motion like that of a snake. These things added great interest to the reading of the text. The drawings were clear and done in a fun comic-book style with lots of details so that with really young children you could play counting games and I-Spy on many of the pages. I also found the glow-in-the-dark cover to be unique. Unfortunately it needed to absorb a lot of light before it did very much glowing.Frankenstink has a great message about reducing, reusing and recycling, plus keeping our rooms clean, which every mother will appreciate. I highly recommend this children’s hard-cover book. I gave it 5 stars out of 5.Thank you to the publishers for providing this book through LibraryThing in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own. This review was published on my blog Shelf Full of Books http://kathrynsshelffullofbooks.blogspot.com/2015/04/book-review-frankenstink-garbage-gone.html

And once it moves it is on a mission to gobble up as much garbage as possible
Ever wonder what happens to all that stuff under your bed, shoved in a corner, or buried in your closet? After a bit that stuff begins to fester and swarm until suddenly it MOVES!!! And once it moves it is on a mission to gobble up as much garbage as possible. Great story for giving kids an incentive to keep their room clean otherwise unexpected things might be lurking.

Great children's book!
I received this book from Early Reviewer on Librarything.... This book is great. I was laughing all through it. My kids also really liked it (I think the fact that it has the word fart in it made them love it even more) I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children. It is a great and fun read!
