Great stories for kids
My daughter had checked "Rollergirl" out of our local library and renewed it twice when I decided I should probably buy her a copy. One of my favorite aspects of the story was how hard Astrid had to work to get good at skating. It sends a good message to kids that things aren't always easy. That's what Mom me likes. Girl me likes that roller derby kicks butt. The story is funny and believable. All's Faire was good too. If people aren't Renaissance festy they might not totally get it but if you're a weirdo like me it's nice to see characters who remind you of people you know.

Sexual Content
Be careful with All's Faire in Middle School, this book is often marketed to 4th grade and up. This book was picked as a Sunshine State book and we felt safe allowing out 5th grader read. We were very surprised when we came to the scene where teen boy takes teen girl out to the beach and proceeds to take her bikini top off in the water. There are several other references to sex and my 11 year old stopped reading at this point - but be advised not appropriate for all mid level readers. Disappointed as they really loved Roller Girl.
