NO Flare Specs on Supplied Rivet-Type Master Link
Chain fit perfectly. Just installed so no idea of durability. Keep in mind, you will need a rivet tool and sliding caliper micrometer to install the rivet master link. They are cheap. The #1 problem is there are no specs in the instructions on the JT rivet-type master link provided and I could not find on the internet either. Don't assume you can use RK or DID flare specs. of .7MM-.9MM max. Unfortunately, I tried, and, like others have commented on reviews, around .3MM (12 thou) the rivet flare cracked. IF that happens to you, you need to get a new master link because it's not safe to ride with a crack. I'd order an extra master link to have on hand in case you mess up. There is a fine line between doing it right and not. Also, watch some You Tubes on measuring the existing link between plates for the proper width, so you don't bind the master link when installing.

I am extremely satisfied with this
This is a serious, high quality chain. Very strong and smooth, impressive. I bought this to replace an aging Tsubaki chain, and I was shopping amongst the major brands. I decided to try JT because of their reputation in the industry with sprockets, and also the price compared to similar offerings from the top chain makers. I am extremely satisfied with this, installed last week, after 500 miles of HARD riding it feels superb. I will update this review after a few thousand miles if need be, but as of right now I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship. The steel they used is so tough, that I had a very difficult time pressing the rivets on the master link. It was unreal, actually, and I used an extra heavy-duty riveter. I would not waste my time or effort trying to rivet the link with one of the cheaper, economy-type riveters. If that's any indication of the overall toughness of the chain, then I'd say this will be a 50k mile chain easily. As stated, it was a pain in the butt with my extra heavy-duty riveter, so plan on having a powersports shop rivet the link for you or do yourself a favor and order a HD one (I suggest a riveter rated for up to 630 chain) or you can just order a clip type master link. Be sure to get the actual "JT X1R" clip master link, for proper fit (I tried a spare Tsubaki clip link that I had just to see if it would fit, and it was a bit too small) The JT steel is thick.Couple final thoughts: If you are looking to lighten up your bike, this is not the best choice (Heavy-Duty = heavy weight). However, if you are focused on durability and quality, this chain looks bulletproof to me, and nice fit & finish as well. ***Will update review if need be, but I expect this chain to outperform!

Holds fast
PITA to install, as it should be, I don't worry about it letting go under a little throttle. Good link does its job!

Flare conservatively
I ended up ordering 4 links in two separate orders because the rivets kept cracking. My service manual for my Honda says to flare the rivet .5-.8 millimeters but these links will not come close to that, .3 millimeters max flare or they will crack. It would have been nice if a flare spec was included with the link instead of trial and error. Hopefully this will help people not make the same mistakes I did.

Great chain
Loved that it came the amount of links I needed and came with the master link. The chain works and looks as expected and no signs of over wearing and she looks great on my 2007 R1

Don't buy it-NOT SAFE!
I purchased this in November of 2023. I installed it the begining of February 2024 prior to riding season. I have owned a custom motorcycle shop for over 30 years, so chain installation is not new to me. Having one break within 50 miles of install? Now, that IS new.For those that don't know motorcycle chains tend to break in one of three ways.1. It rockets out of the back of the motorcycle (either hitting or not hitting someone/something else)2. And tangles around the rear sprocket locking up the rear wheel while the rest of the motorcycle in you continue to travel forward at whatever speed you were at before the rear wheel locked up. Generally this results in a catastrophic event that you might be lucky enough to walk away from.3. The most common way, is for the chain to wrap itself around the front sprocket. When it does this it usually destroys the engine case, leaking out oil and causing the engine to seize. Or,( though it's a smaller chance) it can cause internal transmission failure.I was lucky enough to have this particular chain do the third option.Reasons change break are pretty simple. Sprockets wear out causing slack in the chain, enough slack forms that the sprocket no longer fits the chain and two teeth will try to force themselves in place and they cannot be and the chain will break. Master links notoriously are the weak spot in the chain and are often the culprit. And of course poor chain maintenance causing links to seize up which creates access heat.On this particular motorcycle and it just been restored from the frame up. I know this, because I'm the one that restored it. The sprockets were new. The master link can still be seen intact in the picture. This chain appeared to be well made, but looks can be deceiving. I now have a classic motorcycle, the first one of it's kind that was made, completely restored to showroom condition after 2 years of effort... That is worthless. At least I am alive to write the review I suppose.Learn from my mistake!
