My favourite type of Oats
I have porridge for breakfast most mornings, simply because its healthy and with a couple of other ingredients thrown in can be really delicious too! (chopped banana, cinnamon and honey is my current favourite).I find the majority of types of porridge end up as a gloopy paste which just isn't very pleasant, so I always try and go for the jumbo oats. These retain a certain degree of their structural integrity after cooking so it feels more like a meal and less like wall paper paste! This brand is fine - it is the type of oats that I am advocating rather than Mornflake themselves, but they seem to be good quality and reasonably priced compared to other brands.

This adds a new dimension to my morning porridge fix!
Firstly, the price for a pack of 5 via Amazon's 'subscribe and save' was very good compared to what our local big name supermarket wants for this product, so I was already ahead at that point.Porridge, the essential breakfast. Well I've been having hot porridge for breakfast for as long as I can remember, as in my opinion it's the best start to the day and genuinely keeps your appetite at bay until lunch time. For my taste I always have a 50/50 mix of water and milk, all water just doesn't suit my taste buds! I then add a small amount (teaspoon) of honey. For years I've only used the smaller (standard) oats but these jumbo oats really add texture to the meal, I mean you really have to 'chew' the porridge, but that adds to the experience rather than being a chore. There's also a creaminess that I don't notice as much with the standard oats. I'm 100% converted now and as long as the price remains competitive I'll be back for more!

Real breakfast!!!
I'm a porridge convert BUT..... was becoming a tad tired of the usual paste like consistency associated with some of the larger brands. For ages I've been buying my breakfast (£2.35 a small hot pot, I hasten to add!!!) from a well known, French named, coffee & sandwich chain as I adored the jumbo oats they used. Now no longer as I did my research and found this, on sale here. The quality is fantastic, love the texture and the creaminess these oats generate is delicious. One thing I would say is that they are 10 times better cooked on the hob. Microwaving is ok but I found that the milk keeps boiling over well before cooking the oats through. So it's very slow cooked in a pan for me.......I LOVE IT and it's superb fuel for my new running bug.

Not great!
I didnt like these jumbo oats at all but i do like mornflake as a quality product i buy the fine mornflake oats as they dont need much cooking and taste more like ready brek. But saying that its good value for money if you like bigger sized oats but i wont be buying these again. 😭

Contents seem fine but packaging was dreadful!
Product arrived quickly and was in a smaller box inside a big one. This smaller box according to the print on the outside was designed to hold the six packs. The box wasn't sealed and the original tape seal on top had been sliced through, presumably by Amazon to check the contents. 5 of the 6 packs inside had not been sealed at all as the small labels were so badly placed and each of the five packs opened up as I lifted it from the inner box. There was a small quantity of porridge oats at the bottom of both boxes. The sixth pack had the seal label in position. All six packs had a slit about one inch wide near the base and oats were coming out of there too. All pretty shoddy and rather worrying from the contamination point of view. This is the only place I can find on site to actually complain about the issue...However, all that being said, I did use a portion as part of a muesli type breakfast today to no ill effect, and hopefullyif I can store everything in airtight containers it should be good for most of the 11month bbe date. If it weren't for the packaging I would give 5 stars all round as these oats seem to be what I've been searching for, for ever. Just the packaging was unbelievably awful!

Headaches and tasted like soap
The expiry date is 01/10/2015, and by the third pack on 12/03/2015 the oats tasted very strange. Like a minty/soapy flavour. I had quite a strong headache afterwards as I thought it might be okay to carry on. My two colleagues tried them and feedback was exactly the same.I will not be buying again after this experience.

Excellent value
These oats were excellent value and full of flavour. The instructions for microwave preparation were, however, rubbish. The cooking instructions, in my opinion, called for far too much water (or milk + water). I am still trying different amounts of liquid to be added to the oats for microwaving and hope to get it right, when I do, I shall add it to this review, I may also try cooking them on the hob, but as a single guy, I prefer the convenience of microwave.I've added an "edit" to this review, which I thought was fair to Mornflake. I have re-ordered these oats, what more can I say? Apart from the fact that on the edit, I increased my star rating from 3 to 5 stars.
