This is a very handy little radio. I basically got it for emergency purposes, but found it is nice also for the beach etc. Love the fact it is solar powered..being in Florida we r never usually short on sun. Really got it for hurricane season, I was without one during hurricane Irma, fortunately for me my power didn't go out. It is also convenient to be able to charge your phone off of it. You can use batteries or crank it also..but charges also by the sun. Has good sound to it, and is the size of a transistor radio from my childhood. Very good purchase.

Definitely works without batteries. You have to seriously crank it to have it on for any length of time. Flashlight works too. Light weight and small so it doesnt take up a lot of space.

Poor AM selectivity, there's 50 khz of missing coverage on AM between 640 and 690 khz. I get the whole lowest common denominator thing, but basic AM selectivity using DSP should no longer be an issue as it's been 16 years since DSP was introduced and more than long enough to work out most if not all of the flaws within DSP tuning systems.If this had better weak signal selectivity it would be a passable radio although on the stations it does pick up, it's not particularly loud for the internal battery which is 500 mAh, but at least it has a solar panel so one does not have to crank endlessly to get it to work if you can keep it near daily sunlight to keep it charged that way.If you don't need to tune in weak stations, then this should be adequate for most uses, there is no NOAA coverage in this model.

I spent all day fishing and only had to use battery first 30 mins,then solar kept it running all day, right up till sunset.I like this and recommend it for a backup power source for your cellphone in case of power outage.Everything seems to be as advertised. And supr fast shipping.
