Return to the Chateau: Preceded By, a Girl in Love

One of the fabled last chapters.....
The story itself is a famous end to a more famous book. It is only one of the storied two endings to "O". Still, in that right it is a good end and well translated. For lovers of this sort of fiction, it will find you wellSpeaking on the advertisement that it was in "new" condition, this I would have to disagree somewhat. The condition is indeed very good to excellent but, by no means like new. Age has taken it's toll and yellowed the dust jacket a touch as well as some of the page ends. This is to be expected of a book nearing forty years of age. Beyond that, it is a well kept example.

Different from the original, but not less than
Though it is traditionally felt that this text represents a degradation of the original "Story of O", I found it quite entertaining. The content focuses a great deal more on the internal workings and the business aspects of Roissy. It also of interest to witness the transformation of the role O plays: from an object possessed purely for pleasure to a useful tool - used as a means towards accomplishing a goal. All on all, the book is different from the original, but not less than.

Worth reading if you love the story of O
If you have never heard of the story of O and read it then this is definitely a must read. The style is pretty close but not perfect. If you enjoyed The Story of O then you will enjoy this.

Not A Return I Would Have Made
This book was a quick and easy read. It certainly was not as interesting as the original story of O. It left a lot to be desired and the interactions O had with people were not drawn out, just quick snippets of action. I would have liked more of a story an understanding of why Sir Stephen was returning her and why Carl was so determined to own her. It feels like this was written in a short rush to get something done. Not something I would recommend reading if you enjoyed the original story of O.

A fraud
This may not have even been written by Pauline Reage. I have never encountered a more ill- conceived clumsy and insulting work.

Great book. Exactly what I expected from the "sequel" and it did not disappoint.

Hit or miss
Bought this book as I have the original and have to say it was not a great read, in fact it left me thinking, "is that it?!", not really worth the money or most importantly the time.
