Very good information regarding the NEC codebook
Very good information regarding the NEC codebook. The information on state licensing is also very thorough. His information is geared toward open shop. If you are going the union route this book may not be for you. But it never hurts to learn and get ahead.

trying to get licensed in another state
Since the state i live in is so into getting money out of people they do not have resaprosity with the state i received my license from. i will have to study up on review of exam questions since most have little to do with the trade.

The person who wrote the cover should have written the book.
This is not a textbook. It is basically a guide to the National Electric Code and seems to be aimed at helping people pass open-book certification tests by placing tabs on appropriate pages of their copy of the NEC. Most of the information is of the form " Topic X is discussed in NEC Chapters Y-Z," which seems a bit redundant for anyone who has actually read the NEC and created their own page tabs, which is an essential step in preparing for the tests. But NEC is not a sufficient preparation for the tests, because it is a reference work. "The Electrician's Trade Demystified" explains a very few of the terms used in NEC and has some (not always relevant) black-and-white photos that seem reminiscent of 50-year-old textbooks. A useful guide to NEC would actually explain the concepts in NEC, which this book does not do.And if your goal is to learn how to do electrical work, the book is even less useful. It definitely does not demystify the trade, explain much electrical theory, or show modern wiring tools and techniques. There are several very good books that do these things. After looking at a couple of them at a local book store, I purchased Rex Cauldwell's "Wiring a House" (5th Edition), which I highly recommend.
