Gary Numan is the business
Oh wow how I wish I could have been there. This is only half of the show (get Living Ornaments 79 Cd if you want the full thing) but what there is is 11 songs that are just wonderful performances. There is not one duff track included or indeed performed. There are instead 2 versions of the same 11 song concert. One with fancy digital messing and "fluff" the other is just as it was performed on the night. Give me the latter every time. There is also a short interview with Gary obviously done years later (my guess is at least 25 years on) which is very interesting and it makes for a DVD that is great to watch and really makes me wish I'd be born a few years earlier. Tracks included are both Tubeway Army numbers and GN's own from Replicas. Tracks included are:Me I disconnect from youM EWe are so FragileEveryday I DieConversationRemember I was VapourOn BroadwayDown in the ParkMy Shadow in VainAre Friends ElectricTracksThe live version of the Drifters On Broadway is particularly spectacular . Expensive? - yes in principle, Worth the money? - Unreservedly yes.

Excellent item
All great! Remastered version presents the concert without effects, from the oroginal masters, in great video and audio quality. As a bonus we can watch the original VHS version (which includes a lot of video effects) and a new interview.

Not quite as good a expected
I bought this dvd because I was at the gig in '79..What I find strange is that it isn't the whole concert..just 11 songs...so what's happened to the rest of the set ??I wish I'd have checked the content before buying. Not quite a rip off...but close.Micromusic is much better value.

the principle tour revisited
This was Numan`s first tour and the first time I saw him live, when the show came to the Aylesbury Friars and this dvd brought back the memories of these shows in 79. The lighting risers and towers were way ahead of its time and the power of the music was completely alien and suited the Numan persona. The electronic sounds became a blueprint for others to follow with early hip hop sampling Numan`s work and the seeds of industrial rock being sown. This dvd is a must for the fans who were there from the beginning of Numan`s career and for those who are just discovering the god of synth.

"The Product Description Is Wrong, Their ARE Special Features......"
Before reading be aware that this is a PAL Region 9 DVD that you will need a multi-region player to watch. It WILL play in your computer, however and POSSIBLY a Play Station, but NOT on a regular U.S. DVD player. If you're electronically inclined you could watch it on your TV with the computer hooked up......From the original promotional material:Gary Numan's "The Touring Principle '79" captures the spectacular shows and innovative music that made him one of the biggest stars in the world at the end of the 1970s. Recorded at London's Hammersmith Odeon on 28 September 1979, this is one of those rare and very special moments in rock when new ideas completely change the music scene. These concerts mark the transformation of synthesizer music from the post-punk underground into massive international success without the need for any compromise. In fact, from the towers of white light to the icy electronics, everything in this show is designed to be powerful, different, atmospheric and unique. Thirty years later, there's still nothing quite like it, which is why new acts and fans continue to discover and be influenced by many of the concepts, sounds and visuals on The Touring Principle. This concert was originally released as the first ever music video-cassette and that original film, featuring the 'special effects' of the time, has been included in this DVD as a BONUS FEATURE along with an exclusive Numan interview about the 1979 tour. However, the main feature on this DVD is taken from the original master before any 'effects' were added. Digitally remastered along with the audio, this represents the definitive document of Gary Numan's visionary show. So, you get TWO versions of the concert, and a contemporary interview with "Gazza." 128min/Full Frame/PAL/Region 9.....CONCERT TRACK LISTING:1.
