This stuff was beautiful
I live in Phoenix. I failed trying to grow bermudagrass last summer, and I was in a hurry to get grass in. I don't intend to overseed in the future, but I needed some turf on my dirt ASAP.I'm dealing with native Phoenix dirt, so I don't take my first attempt with bermuda to really be a failure. I had much different results with this.I scalped what little areas of bermudagrass that had grown, and I saved the dirt/grass clipping mixture. I laid some fresh composted dirt down and mixed it with the native dirt. Then I laid another small layer of the composted dirt , spread out the seed, and dressed it with the grass clippings/dirt mixture. I figured that, given my lack of success over the summer, that I would need to replant some areas after a few weeks. But that didn't happen.I timed my planting with what the local golf courses were doing. After about 10 days, I felt like I had failed again because nothing had sprouted. Then it rained. The next morning, I saw a few sprouts.I still figured I would have to replant spots, but the stuff just kept getting thicker and greener. And then it started to rain again in mid November. And it didn't stop until mid February. That is extremely rare for Phoenix, but I need to point out that I didn't water this grass manually a single time from the first week of November until today, as I'm now letting it die to try to replant the bermuda. By the middle of December, it had become some of the most lush lawns I had ever seen. And I couldn't mow it because it was constantly too wet.I did end up with a clover problem towards the end of the rains, but I think that was just because it was so wet. When the rain stopped, the clover died off long before the grass did.I'm guessing that this stuff just loves water. I have no idea what it would do through a typical Phoenix winter, but I have to give it five stars because of how beautiful it looked all winter long. Because of how successful I was with it, I'm giving the Scotts bermuda grass seed another chance.

Nice
Like this product. Great grass seed. I have a fenced area for my dog that was full of nothing but weeds. I took care of most of those and now there is very little real grass. Yesterday in the rain, I hand hoed the bare areas, ripped up the dead crab grass and put down down seed in basically clay. It stopped raining then and I have no outdoor hookup for water so I am at the mercy of the heavens. The clay on my shoes was glued on. My hand hoe was glued also. Hopefully this grass will survive (it is suppose to rain in 5 more days) and come up. Meanwhile my dog is being held hostage in the front yard also full of weeds on a long rope when she needs to go out. I am 80 yrs. old and would very much like to see fantastic results and I am certain that will happen. I would have planted nothing less than the best grass seed and this is just that. And, that is my story!

Great winter grass
This grass is easy to grow as long as you follow watering directions. Results are a rich color of soft grass. The only drawback is that I believe it requires more seeding than suggested to avoid bare spots.Note: birds love this grass as it starts to shoot up, so will need to deter them. I used flower spinners and colorful garland as well as my faithful dog.

LOVE this wonderful ryegrass!
I LOVE this perennial ryegrass mix, it performed just as advertised, and as I'd hoped in my wildest dreams. Hurricane Ian ripped a mango tree of mine to shreds, and the tree had to be cut down all the way to a stump (which now is putting out shoots--YAY... but I digress...). Where the large mango canopy shaded the back yard was just dirt, just basically gray, sandy soil. With the tree gone, it really looked horrendous, and had no protection from erosion. I'd always wanted to try winter rye, as the city I live in uses it in the park system in the winter, and it is truly the most beautiful grass I've ever seen. I'm not a turf person, I'm a native plant/xeriscape person, but even I was just captivated by the winter rye to the point that, a few years back, I asked a Parks & Rec employee who was in one of the parks, "What is that gorgeous grass?" "Winter rye", he replied. It is this absolutely beautiful shade of green, and it is very soft--just enchanting. Anyway, since learning about it, and then noticing it in some other folks' yards around here in winter, I always said "I've got to get some of that winter rye", yet I never did until this year and Hurricane Ian doing what it did to the mango tree, leaving that bare area of the back yard exposed and REALLY looking baaaad. So I ended up ordering the Scotts Perennial Rye Mix, instead of winter rye, as when I researched the difference, it seemed like it would have all the great aspects of the winter rye, and also be a bit hardier (although I understand that, here in Florida, it's a winter cover crop, and will go bye bye in the late Spring). Well: I LOVE IT!I didn't even use a spreader, I just spread it over the bare area right from the bag, and then I watered it about twice per day, just as the instructions say. On Day 5, I had GRASS! Not all of the seed sprouted on Day 5, but quite a bit did. By Day 7, it was all sprouted and beautiful and looks like it has always been there! I am in love with this beautiful ryegrass, and I can't believe how easy, fast, gorgeous and affordable it is. I'm definitely going to use it every winter. What I love, too, is, even when it dies, it will enrich the soil, and then the other grasses in my yard will hopefully take over that area, until next winter when I'll get more of this fabulous ryegrass. LOVE IT.
