LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 UNITS AHI Records, to be distributed by BUYSOUNDTRAX Records, will be releasing a special 30th Anniversary Edition of HALLOWEEN II. The soundtrack features music composed & performed by John Carpenter (HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) in association with Alan Howarth (THE LOST EMPIRE, HEADLESS) for the 1981 cult horror sequel directed by Rick Rosenthal, written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasance, Lance Guest, Nancy Stephens, Pamela Shoop, Tawny Moyer, Leo Rossi and legendary stuntman Dick Warlock as The Shape. HALLOWEEN II is a direct sequel to the first film, set on the same night of October 31, 1978 in the fictional Midwest town of Haddonfield, as the seemingly indestructible Michael Myers follows his intended victim Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to a nearby hospital. Produced on a shoestring budget and released in 1978, the original HALLOWEEN earned over 47 million dollars at the box office, making it one of the most successful independent films for many years. With this tremendous success, it would only be a matter of time until there was a sequel. While the first film was produced independently of any major studios, the sequel was produced by Universal, with full creative control in the hands of John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film's score is a variation of John Carpenter s compositions for the first HALLOWEEN, particularly the main theme's familiar piano melody played in a 5/4 time rhythm. This time, the score was performed on synthesizer organs rather than on piano. For this special 30th Anniversary Edition of HALLOWEEN II, the original 1981 album presentation is included, newly remastered. In addition, a special suite of seven tracks has been prepared, consisting of the entire film score sequenced in chronological order and including previously unreleased music. In addition, Alan Howarth has contributed exclusive notes for the booklet. Alan Howarth, in addition to being a composer, is an accomplished sound designer and editor, having worked on films such as STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, POLTERGEIST, TOTAL RECALL, ARMY OF DARKNESS, BRAM STOKER S DRACULA, STARGATE and many others. He has been a frequent music collaborator with John Carpenter on his films beginning with ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK in 1980 and including HALLOWEEN II & III, CHRISTINE, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, THEY LIVE and PRINCE OF DARKNESS and Alan has scored many films on his own, including THE LOST EMPIRE, RETRIBUTION, HALLOWEEN 4 & 5, THE DENTIST, HEADLESS, BOO! And, most recently, EVILUTION and BASEMENT JACK.

Too long to wait.
Yes, 30 years since the film came out. The original soundtrack was good. Short but good. This has all the music and a ton of reworks. The main theme finally given a plenty of play time as so deserved. The use of those synth organs was great! Gave an already great melody the grand treatment. You can get this via Amazon as a cdr. It does sound well, however, collectors like myself have to get an original. Worth it! These will be gone VERY soon since only 1000 were ever printed. Get it my fellow Halloween score fans! Also check out Halloween 4 expanded edition!
