Inexpensive and works on both Mac and PC
I moved to an older historic building (circa 1853) with very thick brick/masonry/lath and plaster interior walls. The building has a "whole building" WiFi setup with routers on the first and 4th floors. My condo is on the second floor, immediately up the stairs from the first floor router and with pretty good line of sight placement for the WiFi signals. In fact in the front portion of my unit the signal is great. Unfortunately, I work from home and my office is in the rear of my unit - farthest from the router. As a result, I was getting very weak signals on both my Mac desktop and my work Windows laptop. I had an extender/adapter put in my front living room to boost the signal, but it didn't completely solve the problem. So after doing some research I tried one of these for my Mac (it plugs directly into the computer), did the setup (pretty straightforward) and was very pleased with the results. My reception and signal strength is now "very good" - not excellent, but certainly good enough to make it painless to use my Mac. It worked so well that I bought one for my work (Windows) computer as well. However, the installation software comes on a CD and my Windows laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD player!! So, after some head scratching, I put the CD in my Mac, copied the installation software to a USB drive, and put the USB drive into my laptop, and voila! it worked.Overall very satisfied, and the price was great and they even look nice.

Works very well
I have had the Netis WF2116 for a few days now and it works pretty well. While the packaging didn't indicate it supported El Capitan, the website has drivers that are compatible with this wireless device. It is a very simple setup for both the software and hardware for the device. The software itself used to control the device works to connect to networks but it doesn't offer much functionality like my prior USB wireless device - which is the only reason I give it 4 stars. As for usage, I live in an older home where the walls do not carry wireless signals well. I use the device to help enhance my wireless signal for my laptop in some areas of the home.Very nice device.

Negative reviews are nuts... Or had pre-existing / special-case issues. A+++ for this adapter.
Pros: Everything.Cons: Too many pros._________________________No idea what the negative reviews of this product are all about, unless people ordered from shady companies, got a defective unit, or had their own personal ignorance/technical issues that caused them problems with their system and the adapter.Installed driver, plugged it in, working beautifully. The wireless router is about 75' away from me through several floors and walls, I have 100% connection and 100% quality. It's boosted the speed and connectivity to my router, and I went from being about to see 3-6 wireless networks in my area to being able to see, on average, 25 different networks. Many of these are at full and or half speed. There are only about 15 houses within 500-750' of our house, so needless to say, this adapter is picking up some serious distance.Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and I know what I'm doing so my system isn't riddled with issues prior to installing this adapter unlike the majority of computer owners these days. The long usb cable and weighted (Yes, it's weighted so it won't tip over) dock is a major plus. The unit is about 5' away from my computer at the moment on a high shelf in the room.100% satisfaction and would recommend to anyone needing that little oomph, or a lot of oomph, to their wifi.

Great signal pickup when it works, but has driver issues that make it unusable
Works significantly better than the one built into the machine. I was getting on average about 40mbps to the router, with some fluctuations down as low as 1mbps. With this now I sustain 270mbps with dips occasionally going down to 140mbps. I also see about 6 other networks in my neighborhood that my old adapter did not even register. Easily worth the money. Have only had it a couple days, but will update if it breaks.Update: I am now having the same problems that many other people are reporting. This adapter will just randomly disconnect from my computer -- not just dropping WiFi, but it will fail to be recognized as a USB device at all. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to make it work. This is extremely frustrating to have to do multiple times every day. I will be purchasing a different adapter, would not recommend this one.

It's Decent, Until It Breaks
This works fairly well, until it breaks. I didn't use this too heavily, and it currently does not work at all anymore. The USB part is also bent, despite me having not subjected it to much stress at all (the only stress it suffered from was gravity). Although, it had a very large range and decent speeds while it was working. To be honest though, I would probably try to find a more durable wireless adapter.

Nice buy, give it a try
Amazing gadget. Used on a desktop pc. Was using an EdiMax EW-7811Un wireless adapter for the past year, but started noticing quality issues after moving my desktop around different rooms. Even though the edimax and my router was rated at 150Mbps max, I could barely hit 54Mbps on the router, usually fluctuated between 20-30s Mbps. After I connected the Netis (No drivers necessary for the RealTek Chip in Win OS), it promptly set to 150Mbps. Even more interesting is that I can now pick up signals from other suburban homes more than 100 feet away. The best feature with this wireless adapter is the signal strength.Physical size of the adapter is average and comparable to most other adapters.Length is a little shy of 3.5 inches (8.89 cm), Width about 1 inch (2.54 cm), and height is about the size of a fresh stack of post it notes (1.14cm)The antennae measure a bit over 7.5 inches (19.05 cm). in total, it is about 9.5 inches in length (24.13 cm).
