50 Gershwin Classics

This volume contains a large selection of Gershwin classics ranging from standards such as "Embraceable You" and show tunes like "I Got Rhythm" to pieces originally composed for orchestra including "An American In Paris" and "Rhapsody in Blue." They are presented at a level that is relatively easy for an intermediate player to master. If anything I would have preferred arrangements that were a bit more challenging and complex. Nevertheless, there are many gems here that are a steal at this price.

I do wish piano books would be offered in spiral bound form, even if it cost $5 more per book. This book of course is not spiral bound. Nice collection at intermediate level of skill.

Book arrived in perfect condition. The music is intermediate level and has been an absolute pleasure to play. Every song in the collection I can immediately call up a memory of a movie I've watched that it was in.

I ordered this book intending to use it for voice lessons, but the piano arrangements are so gorgeous and not horribly difficult, I'm keeping it for piano solo instead. Every Gershwin nuance is there, and there are instrumental only arrangements of three preludes and Rhapsody In Blue. I played through favorites such as Liza, Embraceable You, Let's Call the Whole Thing Off, and several others, and just fell in love with the arrangements. They're rich, full, and fit the songs. It's not really suitable for vocal performance; the melodies are in the accompaniments, but I really love this book anyway.

This is Gershwin's genius in one wonderful volume but I love Gershwin's music I have two song books. Makes you want to dance around the house singing, "I've got music..." Oh yeah, I've got Gershwn!
