Grace Primer
If you aren't well versed in the grace message, this is a great place to start. If you're an analytical type, this book will not impress you. This is more for the average Joe who's been nominal or legalistic and wants more.

Freedom!
This book is amazing! This is my favorite book of all time. The scales literally feel from my eyes because of the depth of this book. It acknowledged the common performance-based lifestyle the majority of us live. It is not condemning in any way but will challenge you to your core. Learn that God lives in you and allow Him to live His life through you. Let Him take the wheel. He has good things for you, He’s not disappointed in you, He just want what’s best for you. And what’s best for you is freedom in Christ Jesus. I wish I would have read this book when I was 15 years old. I am 27 years old now but so glad God revealed this truth to me so I can share the good news with others!

Life Changing Message
I met Steve and read this book not long after it was first published. I found it eye-opening, heart-opening, and life-changing in that God used Steve's teaching to draw me into a closer walk. Highly recommended.

This Book Changed My Entire Perception
The revelation of letting Christ live THROUGH you and totally abiding in Him are priceless principles that can truly change lives. I have been a believer for over 30 years, and until I read this book I never totally understood the concept of grace.I was very familiar with the concept of resting in Him and calling on Him, but until I began to practice ABIDING in Him I had many struggles with temptation and the "worksaholic" mentality. This book has brought all of that into focus and makes it very clear that I can do NOTHING positive without me abiding in Him and Him abiding in me. The question Mr. McVey poses that has literally changed my life is "Am I abiding in Jesus at this moment?" Once one totally understands the meaning of that question (which is explained in this book) it can change ones entire theological perspective.I unequivocally believe that every follower of Christ will be blessed by reading this book if they apply its principles!

Help For The Perfectionist
Learning to live above the level of mediocrity can be challenging for anyone who struggles with performance orientation or a sense of inferiority. In his book Grace Walk, Steve McVey eloquently writes about the dangers of living on the fence between legalism and grace. McVey takes the reader step by step through his own life's journey of constantly trying to measure up. His vulnerable honesty, he brings the reader into his personal world and gives the reader someone to relate with in their own struggle with inferiority."Your sense of failure may be the catalyst God wants to use to bring you to a new understanding of the meaning of the Christian life."This book was a quick and easy read for me. In each chapter, he shared rich stories that unfolded God's gift of grace in my own life. If you struggle between the polarity of perfectionism and legalism, this book is for you.I highly recommend this book.

New tread on my grace walking shoes
I was challenged by a friend to read Steve McVey's book, Grace Walk. I held my breath so to speak as Steve articulated very well the topic of Grace. It was my fear that he was going to say God's law was no longer applicable, taking away the definition of sin. That just wasn't the case. It turn's out Steve's logic on grace is very much founded in the Bible. After reading Grace Walk I discovered it gave me new tread on my grace walking shoes. It's the same thing the Bible writers such as Paul have said except that it is in language easier to understand today. I am confident your understanding of God's grace after reading this book will put renewed pep in your grace walking step.

“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
I know a number of people who would be helped by this book. They were raised in an environment of performance for affection rather than unconditional love. They need to be healed and helped to actualize grace and mercy and to feel in their core acceptance and love. However, this book drifts so far away from Biblical truth that the scene from the Garden keeps popping into my mind. For example, on page 153, the first full paragraph, second sentence, Steve McVey says "A law among evangelicals and fundamentalists insists that we must evangelize." Steve is in fact referring to Matthew 28: 16-20, where Jesus is speaking and issues an instruction that is in the imperative in Greek, meaning it is a command. Many translations translate that as "make disciples" others as teach. Either way, it is not some law among some groups, but an instruction from Jesus. So, did God really say go therefore and make disciples? I think so, and to dilute it to a law that results in legalism brings into focus the issue I have with the book.Further, on page 156 he states, "We will never be accountable for our sin because Christ took upon Himself God's wrath against sin." While I would agree with this statement in part, I see it as dangerous in part. Let's say I am in some trouble and a lie will help me slide. I tell the lie, intentionally, knowingly, with full understanding that it is wrong. Does God hate me? Does He unleash hell on me? I think not. However, I now have to remember that lie in detail and prepare to lie again to retain its effect. I have also made it easier to lie next time. Accountability is a big idea; telling that lie has created consequences that the blood of Jesus does not amend. Therefore, the sentence could be used by the serpent in your moment of temptation, something like "go ahead and do it because you will never be held accountable."Another issue is 2 Peter chapter 2. There, Peter uses a phrase three times: "make every effort." He says make every effort to add to your faith, goodness. Then he lists several more things to add culminating in love. He also gives a warning about the danger of not making every effort. In my humble opinion, this book offers the antithesis of Peter's instruction. So, if your parents, teachers and Church created a world view in you that you have to perform to be loved, to be accepted, to be included, then this book may be helpful and I rejoice in your healing. But, I caution readers to not hear the serpent saying "Did God really say... be Holy for I am Holy." (1 Peter 1: 15 & 16).

Great Book
Wonderful book about the Grace of God abounding in our lives through the story of Steve McVey's personal and observed stories. He relates them to the teachings of the bible so his book is based on the word of God. Bought for a friend to read.
