OXO Good Grips Oven Thermometer

Oxo Analogue Dial ThermometerThe Oxo thermometer arrived promptly, and in good condition.It is well constructed, and the way the hook is positioned makes it easy to hang on the rails in the oven. The display is clear. In the Amazon photo of the item, the Fahrenheit scale is prioritised, perhaps for the US market, but I was pleased that the one supplied is European and has Celsius scale in the larger font, with the Fahrenheit scale smaller.I bought this to check the temperature of my main fan oven.With the oven control set to 200c, the thermometer showed 190c.So I then checked the fan oven on my combi-microwave. This one has a digital temperature display. Again, set to 200c the thermometer showed 190c.I then checked my small non-fan oven which is part of the main double oven.This one takes ages and ages to pre-heat, so in 30+ years I have hardly used it except to warm plates and make toast.This one set to 200c, showed 200c on the thermometer.A batch of bread rolls cooked at 200c for 15 minutes in the small oven for the first time were the best I have ever made. Perfect crust, great colour, light fluffy interior, they would be first prize in the village fete.Here is the puzzle – I like my new thermometer, and would recommend it, but still don’t know what to believe. The unit does not have an available calibration screw on it.Perhaps I need another thermometer to double checkthis one!If the new thermometer is reading wrong, then two of my ovens could be correct.If the new thermometer is correct then two of my ovens are running cool.First world problems I know.Perhaps it's best to judge the ovens simply by results.Overall I'm happy with the purchase - but theobject of the exercise still leaves me in doubt about what is accurate.

An easy to read thermometer I used to check against my oven after being concerned that something was wrong when my latest loaf of bread took much longer to cook than normal. Thermometer and oven both agreed so it must have been my new silicone bread tins that were not as conductive as the metal ones. One thing to note is that the response is quite slow which is probably a good thing so you don't get distracted by the temperature going up and down as the thermostat clicks on and off.

This is probably a good oven thermometer but unfortunately it is simply too big to fit anywhere useful within the oven. It won’t stand underneath or between shelves or hang under a shelf unless only using a single shelf and removing the others. Thus it is effectively useless. Very disappointing.

So pleased to have proved that my cooker was not accurate the setting always thought it was not reading correctl temperature was to hot

Works as it should reads oven temp fairly accurately and ia easily read overall a great little product
