Great Read
One of the few books in this time that capture the real spirit of hot rodding. A must read for all gear heads.

DISAPPOINTING
Interesting concept but, in my opinion, very amateurish. The stories are quite mundane, dull. I'm 75, been a car guy for most of my life, and the stories my buddies and I could tell would easily fill a coupla books and are much more exciting. In fact, we're still creating memories/stories. This book is certainly not worthy of a second read.

Not what I thought
My dad said why would my daughter give me a reading book. I don’t like to read. And he read the first page and couldn’t put it down.

Pass this book, and hobby, on to the next generation!
David Dickenson has compiled so much more than the reminisces of a bygone era. The stories collected here are so much more than the whisperings of ghosts longing for the good old days. They are the history, indeed the heart and soul of a hobby, a vocation, a lifestyle that is dying far too quickly. These simple tales of our love affair with internal combustion ans sheet metal have the ability to spark younger minds and inspire them to look beyond today's soul-less computerized point and click rolling boxes and see true beauty of old cars. I suggest not only purchasing one for yourself, but also perhaps one (or several!) to donate to the local vocational schools. If you've got really young kids or grand-kids, treat this as a bedtime story book. Couple that with taking kids to car shows, and letting them get their hands dirty beside you, and the future will be brighter than ever!

What's Your Interest?
The cars that really get my interest are those from the 20's and 30's, and in stock form. I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, and not into muscle cars. Essentially then, this book was not written for me. I found the stories I read to be full of human interest, and undoubtedly delightful reading to those with an automotive-mechanical leaning, but not to my particular taste.

What a great read
First of all, yes I'm an old car nut, I'd go more for 60s and 70s cars but that said anyone who loves and brings old cars back to life is ok in my books. Great tales, I look forward to the next Volumes, how about a UK version.
