Love the hat, but pricey
I have a couple of these Mountain Hardware beanies; one of microfiber for deep winter and this one which is poly and perfect for fall and spring. Also great for wearing under a bike helmet. Trouble with this one is it's so small I keep losing it which is pricey.

Small.
I have a massive head. Doesn't really fit, but that only applies to me.

Great under-helmet beanie
During this past year or exercising at home including biking in the morning, there were points were it was just too cold to bike without something covering my ears. This beanie solves that problem very nicely. More about this beanie.* Warmth - as a standalone beanie, it's pretty thin, so it's probably not warm enough to be your go-to winter beanie. Cool fall or early winter is likely the best this is suited for which makes it perfect for...* Fits great under a helmet - wearing under a helmet. That lightness means less bulk and bunching when wearing under a bike, ski, or climbing helmet. That lighter material also help to keep you from overheating when being active.* One size fits most. It's stretchy and it fits my "average adult male head" pretty well. It also fits my wife's "average adult female head" pretty well so it does have a wide fitment range.* Doesn't cover the bottoms of your ears. As you can see in the picture of the model wearing this, the beanie doesn't come all the way down and cover the entirety of his earlobes - mine either. In the coldest weather this might be an issue but its the top of my ears that generally get the coldest and start bothering me first followed by my eardrums which are both nicely protected by this hat.* More than simple wind protection. For rides where all you need is a little wind protection for cool mornings this beanie might actually be on the warm side. All in all, I'm really happy to have this beanie and am looking forward to really giving it a workout this coming fall and winter.

not as contoured as some helmet beanies, but works well
This beanie is not as contoured as some sports beanies that are designed to fit under a helmet, but it has a lot of stretch and works pretty well. I wear it under a bicycle helmet in freezing weather and it does a good enough job of shielding and insulating my head from the cold. I have a larger head (hat size 7.5) and it fits me pretty well.

Thin enough to fit under a bike helmet!
What I like about this Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Beanie is that it is warm, yet thin enough to fit under a bike helmet. So, you can wear it alone, or with a helmet, and it will cover your ears and your forehead. What I don't like about it is that you have to pay attention when putting it on... there's a "front" and a "back". Try figuring this out in the dark!

Straightforward, basic beanie
This is a good beanie that is stretchy enough for even my big head. The fabric is your typical polyester with a smooth, silky feel on the exterior with a softer, fluffier fleece feel on the interior. The logo has reflectivity which helps with safety but only points in one direction so isn't the best choice if you want all-around visibility.
