I LOVE this feeder!
This bird feeder is great. I've never had a tube bird feeder that was so easy to fill and clean before. In fact, I'd stopped using this type of feeder entirely because I could never get it cleaned correctly, but this one makes the process dead simple. It's super easy to take the whole feeder apart: after pulling the top up, just pull on the metal hoop inside the tube; this removes the rod keeping the feeding ports attached. After that, the ports come out on their own, and it's easy to pull the bottom out of the tube at that point as well, leaving all the pieces easy to clean and replace.I highly recommend buying this with the Droll Yankee seed tray that attaches to the bottom of the tube; with that included, you'll get birds that won't perch (like juncos and rufus-sided towhees where I live) eating at the feeder as well. It's like having a tube feeder and a tray feeder in one, and I love it.I also highly recommend the Droll Yankee feeding scoop. Its horn shape makes scooping enough food to fill the feeder dead simple, and the small end of the scoop has another opening that's the perfect size to fit inside the feeder tube. I can't believe how easy it is filling the feeder with the scoop; I've completely changed my mind about tube feeders with this setup, and I would now happily recommend the feeder to anyone looking for a new feeder! If you buy this, you will definitely not be disappointed!

Watch out
We like the Droll Yankees products very much but this bird feeder arrived in a badly damaged box. It had a bent hangar and one feeding port was missing. Returned to UPS store immediately. Now Amazon says it was never returned and we have been charged for the product.

best constructed feeder on the market.
I've had this for 4 months now, and it is the best bird feeder on the market. After several trial runs with the failed"cute" ones which I found the others are better suited as plant holders than bird feeders.* I can take it completely apart and clean it, fits together like the jenga game. huge for those of us obsessed with cleanliness,* construction and components are SOLID, and durable, birds that like to make larger holes for their big beaks don't stand a chance with this one,* esthetically pleasing, love the modern look.I'm back online to buy the little umbrella cover for it, which seems to work on the other one I have to deter california squirrels (I say cali., because i'm pretty sure they don't seem as savvy as the east coast squirrels).

Great Bird Feeder
Love this and so do the birds! It’s not “squirrel proof” as far as the squirrels being able to get to the food, but it IS squirrel-proof as far as them biting into it-They can’t! So they cannot destroy the feeder. I wish they would make a larger sized one. I have to fill these every day- I have two!

Fiches love em'!
Shipped and packaging good. I've used Droll Yankee for years and have even gotten tubes replaced at no charge. Not crazy about the way the center rod goes through on these newer ones - think I like the old ones a bit better. Finches love them - squirrels stay away too. Will buy again someday.

not water repellant
I generally like the feeder. Construction is good and it comes apart easily for cleaning or removing clumped seed. Unfortunately, this feeder allows rain water to enter too easily, so that in moderate rains, the bottom 4-5 inches of seed gets wet and clumps and sprouts. This causes some extra cleaning and wasted seed. Perhaps a bead of silicone over each insert will divert, but designers should have noticed.

New Feeder
We like Droll Yankee feeders. This was a replacement for a damaged DY finch feeder. Even though we hung it in the same spot as the old DY feeder it still took about a week or so for the finches to start feeding from this one. The tiny slots seemed to throw them off initially. Now that they've adapted to the new feeder they are flocking around. As a plus it appears there is much less wasted seed.

Heavy duty well made
Raccoons squirrels and bears have destroyed my plastic feeders and after replacing them multiple times with cheap ones I decided to spend the extra and get one that stands a chance against raiders! So far so good but had to rig it on a rope and pulley to keep it out of bears reach as nothing will withstand a hungry bear! Squirrels and raccoons are not chewing threw this one if they can get to it! Great feeder for any birder that wants quality durability and thoughtful design.
