Jet Li does String Theory
This was a Superbit title and I liked the a/v, and its back in 1080p. It is nice to buy upgraded material when it is upgrade material. This cartoon film combines cop film, sci-fi, action and many alternate realities. The picture changes with the 'level of' in tint and picture and the end shows the high PQ quality you've been seeing all along. Jet Li is great in a stretch role and Carla Gugini looks great in all dimensions with Jason Stratham adding to the party. I loved and the whole mood of the film; made me feel Sci-fi good. Re-watching it always got better and the BD added the rest.ps- google string theory

GREAT movie on Blu-ray!!
I was pleased to find this title on Blu-ray. The movie itself is about alternate realities - a total escapist fiction which is fun and mind-bending, a bit like Time Cop with some twists. Well acted and worth watching as a flick, THIS version (blu-ray) was the best I have seen of it (I have watched it multiple times, and this was by far the best watch). Recommended.

Fun, unique, and memorable martial arts action film
The One isn't intended to be Oscar material, but it's an enjoyable martial arts film with an intriguing story and sprinklings of science fiction. I'm not sure this is a fair comparison, but I think of The One a bit like Demolition Man - a bit cheesy and over the top in all the right ways, and very enjoyable if you're not put off by that sort of thing.Jet Li plays two versions of the same character - one evil, one good. The story's premise is that life essence is shared between every parallel version of an individual across 125 parallel universes - and killing one of those 125 redistributes his life force amongst the remaining individuals. The evil Yulaw, with the knowledge of how to hop between realities, has succeeded in killing all but one parallel version of himself - Gabe Law. Gabe is unaware of the existence of parallel universes, until confronted and nearly killed by Yulaw.Jet Li performs well in both of the roles, as the hardened criminal Yulaw and the likeable police officer Gabe. Several of the supporting roles are well acted, including Gabe's cop buddies and wife TK. Other roles, such as the gritty multi-verse cops played by Jason Statham and Delroy Lindo, are a bit overacted and cheesy. With the power of 125 individuals split between the two of them, both Yulaw and Gabe are capable of superhuman feats of strength and speed. This gives the film the liberty to take the martial arts further than typical movies in the genre, leading to some truly jaw-dropping bad-ass action scenes. Despite The One's age, many of the effects still look convincing, particularly those where the world slows to a crawl around a super-accelerated Li, who dances around his opponents and smashes them out of the air (those that have seen the Seth Rogen "Green Hornet" film will recognize that Kato's action scenes were blatantly ripped off of "The One"). Occasionally there are obvious CG elements, and any enthusiast of martial arts will recognize repeated wire stunts, but they are much more excusable when the character has superhuman powers.Overall, the film is a bit cheesy, but hard-hitting and very endearing. It's hard not to like Li in his role as the good-natured Gabe, and fun to watch his progression as he learns the extent of the powers he has gained thanks to Yulaw's meddling. Not everyone will like The One, but those that do should greatly enjoy it.

A classic in my opinion
Very imaginative. There are a lot of little pieces of detail to enjoy. People who are into martial arts will enjoy the fact that the final confrontation is between hard style and soft style. A very fun movie if you are more the type of person who wants to stretch your imagination, versus the type who wants to refuse imagination in favor of realism.

I AM THE ONE!
Great Movie! I just recently picked up the Blu-Ray after thinking about this movie and how long it had been since I had watched it. It's my favorite Jet Li movie. It gets my blood flowing like no other movie. Great action and the final scene is amazing!

If you liked the Matrix or Sci Fi films
Seen the Matrix? This is Jet Li's revenge for them not paying him 1 million to be in the Matrix. The backstory is a bit different but the fight sequences are very similar.

One of Jet Li's best English language films.
I loved this film when I had it on DVD and just had to upgrade my copy when it came out on Blu-ray. Little known fact, the original choice for the lead was Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, which would have made a massive difference, let us all be glad that Jet Li got the role instead.

This has to be a spoof movie ... right?
I'm not an expert on film in any genre but I found this to be truly, truly awful filmmaking. This film feels like a TV movie production with a budget to match. The acting was on par with a Hollywood soft porn movie production. The accompanying rock music sound track (that goes on and on and on and on) got on my nerves a lot. There was one point where Li was in a car flicking through the radio stations and finally he settles for a hard rock music station but he's shaking his head and moving his body as though he's listening to a piano recital by Liberace ... absolutely hilarious! The fight scenes were nothing compared to his other movies like 'Fearless' or 'Hero'. It felt as though this was his first ever movie outing. The special effects were, in my opinion, a little strange. For example, Li kicks or throws someone into the air who then go into slow motion or complete stop in mid air while Li continues at normal speed to beat up other guys around him. The person suspended in the air is now slowly descending and Li gives him a good kicking on the way down. There was also the overdone slow motion bullet dodging. Li kicks down a lampost to show his strength then kicks some prison door bars that bend that really proves how 'manly' he is.After 61 minutes of lost hope that this film would improve, I pressed the eject button. Another £10 down the drain!Perhaps Jet Li has a sense of humour and made this as a spoof movie.
