MUCH better than Low-Depot stuff...
Excellent steel wool. I used this to buff a glossy rifle stock to a satin finish, and it worked perfectly. I started the project with 4/0 Steel wool I bought from a Low-Depot store. It was crap. This steel wool is a fantastic roll that has nice, parallel strands of wool that won't make cross cut marks in the wood finish. I will by this wool exclusively in the future. The roll is fairly large and I ended up buffing the whole rifle stock with about 8 in of a single roll. I bought two boxes so I still have plenty left over.

Never knew this was a thing.....
but now that I have used it, it's better than the cheapo-charlies stuff from the orange box. When finishing fresh wood projects, not introducing oil is a good thing. Does an awesome refinishing messed up oil finishes (water damage, heat to remove the moisture, then rub out with wax and voila! All pretty again.) Also does a beautiful job of rubbing out lacquer (Deft) finishes. Made a touch up on an old table look like new again.

Great product
All I use in my shop for finishing woodworking on my lathe. Also use to clean my rails .Would recommend.

Does the job but take time and care
I used this product for burnishing a marquetry picture that I had made. It takes the mirror-like finish of 100 grit paper back to a Matt satin finish which is what I was trying to do. I had to experiment a little before getting the finish but that was probably because I'd never used wire wool before.

Several times more expensive - and well worth the money
Ive been trying to finish my homemade dining table., now with 14 coats of polyurethane and backsanding. The cool way with 600 grit, 800, 1200 and so on just was not working. So, I went back to what I know works, 0000 steel wool and soapy water. I thought I would splurge to get the "good stuff" just to see what difference it makes.Well, the product is really quite different than my big box store purchases. Very even in size, rolled in a tight direction. No oils. I didn't know it made a difference. It does.

It’s the best wool for finishing purposes.
I use this wool with paste wax for satin finishing varnish on woods. These have no random contaminants or oils that will screw up your finish, and most wools you get locally will be contaminated.

Oil free and durable
Cleaned and refinished kitchen cabinets with this, Murphy's oil soap, and tung oil. Very good and reasonably priced 0000 steelwool.

Very nice stuff
I usually use Liberon 0000 steel wool for between coat leveling, tried this to see if it was any better, or cheaper. It's an excellent product, maybe stays together a bit longer than Liberon but it's pretty much a toss-up which is better. Most important is either of these products will produce much better results than the garden variety 0000 you'll find at hardware or big box stores at a much lower price. Compared side-by-side there is no comparison, they're two completely different products, and worth the extra bucks if you're serious about your work. eBay's the cheapest place to buy either, and they're both about the same price. Buying by the 225-250g roll is most economical
