Coney Island and Astroland

Accurate and well done
My grandfather grew up near Coney Island back in the 1920s. This book brought him back to his childhood. He really loved the book and looks at it whenever he’s feeling nostalgic.

Nice Book
I never really knew much about Coney Island and this book is an excellent research on it's history. I have purchased other books of this type on other places, and like this one, does not disappoint. If you are looking for a nice book full of pictures, this one will fit the bill.

Old and New Coney Island
Another wonderful "Images of America" publication from Arcadia---as promised in the title, the book is divided into 73 pages of photographs of (historic) Coney Island generally and 54 pages of (1962) Astroland, the "theme park of Tomorrow" which attempted to revive antiquated Coney Island's slumping fortunes. Was it successful? You'll have to read the (minimal) accompanying text to find out!

A Must for NYC Historians
A smattering of early CI photos. Emphasis on Astroland (as advertised). Good descriptions and interesting history.Entertainment comes and goes, but crooked politics is forever!
