The Rosary with Fra Angelico and Giotto

This book led me into praying the rosary; it fed my soul, my senses and it educated me.For some people praying the rosary comes as easy as falling of a log; for many others, they just can't seem to get the hang of it. I was one of those people, my mind refused to meditate while praying the beads and pretty soon I was just saying words. One day I found this little booklet( the cover captivated me)and I began to read the introduction. What surprised me was this method of praying the rosary has been in existence for hundreds of years.What's so different? After the end of the first half of the Hail Mary which ends with the name of Jesus a phrase is added to highlight an episode on Our Lord's Life. Example: Who freed us from Adam's sin.At the end of the decade, one ends with the traditional closing: Holy Mary, Mother of GOd etc and one continues with all the other tradional prayers.There is a brief history of the rosary in the beginning of the book, clear instructions on how to pray the rosary and a biblical citation and prayer intention.The quality of the paper, the beautiful art work and the fact this small booklet can be carried any where makes it a bargain.I've given it as a gift to many people Catholic and non-Catholic alike. All have expressed nearly the same thing; It has changed them and made them want to continue in their religious journey

I use the pictures but usually not the extra words. I have been using it for several months and it seems to be the answer to the problem I had been having with my distracted, wandering mind. The paintings by Fra Angelico have many details that I notice little by little as I meditate on them. It seems that a different level of conscious-- visual processing-- is being used to meditate on the picture, so that the language processing part of my consciousness can attend to the sound and meaning of the Ave Marias. Anyway, I've found a new beauty, calm, and fulfillment in my Rosary praying since I started using this, definitely worth five stars. Catholic publishers and religious article manufacturers take note-- there is a market for Catholic art by real artists, not kitschy illustrators!

The book measures approx 5" x 7" ; lovely illustrations are in color , approx 4" x 4", and always placed on the top left side of the page which is nice.Each Mystery has an illustration, 2-3 sentence summary of the event depicted by the Mystery, then "Biblical citation" (scriptural verses in a paragraph) telling the event of the Mystery, then enumerated Prayer Intentions (2-3), followed by 10 "Jesus utterances" each of which could be recited before saying the Hail Mary for that Mystery. (The Luminous Mysteries are included).

I love this Rosary booklet and use it almost every day because there are several ways to use it! The booklet is of a very good quality, and I am able to hold it open and read it with one hand, and my Rosary in the other! :) A small nice detail is that the pages are glossy so it gives a nice finish to the lovely painting for each of the Mysteries of the Rosary.

My family used the original edition with the three oldest mysteries for years and found the artwork, scripture and meditations to be very fruitful. The new edition that includes the Luminous mysteries is equally beautiful and enriching. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs help focusing on the meditation or wants to deepen their understanding of the scripture.

This makes an old prayer form come alive with the references to scripture and the beautiful art of the famed Dominican Fra Angelico and Italian Giotto. A good book to give as a gift to anyone who prays the rosary or anyone you might want to invite to pray the rosary. The price is right. The size of the book is right for pocket, purse or glove box.

This is one of my favorite Rosary meditation books. For anyone devoted to the Rosary, it's so important to say it without being distracted. I have a number of Rosary mediations and this is in my top 3!

I have recited to rosary since I was a child but this Rosary taught me to PRAY the Rosary. What a wonderful prayer to live the Gospel and understand all the Mysteries!!! Great for teaching children, young adults, RCIA classes, Confirmation classes and Cursillo weekends!!! BUY IT, PRAY IT! As Father Peyton reminded us " The family that prays together stays together"
