If you're a thriller fan, you will enjoy every movie in this set. The Hunt for Red October is a classic of the genre, Patriot Games is Harrison Ford's first performance as Jack Ryan (after Alec Baldwin, who played Ryan in Red October, declined to return). Ford is impressive, and he makes the film better than it would be with any other actor in the role. But the real place he gets a chance to shine is Clear and Present Danger. It, admittedly, also helps that Clear and Present Danger has a better script: not that Patriot games had a terrible one. That was average, and there is only so much you can get out of such a script. It being average is why I'm only giving the set four stars. But Clear and Present Danger is decidedly above average. By itself, it makes the set worth buying. The other two are icing on the cake.

The translation from book to screen went very well for these late 80's and early 90's movies. Though the change from Baldwin for Ford could have easily not occurred, the content of the movies were excellent. It's a great buy and having just these three (which over the series were probably the best of the bunch) made proper sense. Great to go back and view them again. The only drawback occurred with the Hunt for Red October when the language shifted from Russian to English in the same dialogued and never went back. (Hard to imagine a Russian Captain going from a Russian accent to a English-England one). Other then that the movies flowed well. It was a shame to not continue with the good books that Clancy wrote as he had other great novels to choose from.

I bow to others here to review what old movies are about. We most have seen them so you either like the flick or you don't. I buy the ones I like because I like them. DUH! The only thing I do care about buying DVDs is to buy the feature in it's OAR that it was filmed in. Any thing else is edited, therefore censored. So all my reviews of DVDs here only considers if the DVD came in the advertised aspect ratio and I only buy DVDs that are reproduced in the aspect ratio that they are made and played in at the theaters. This item - Jack Ryan 3 Pack (The Hunt for Red October / Patriot Games / Clear and Present Danger) (1990) - was advertised as being 2.35:1 which is what they played at in the theaters. What it was filmed in. Unedited. Uncensored. All three are 2.35:1. EXCELLENT! cIaO!

The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger DVD's all wrapped up in one boxed set. A nice set, too, I might add. I already have these films on VHS and wanted to get them on DVD, too. This set worked nicely at a decent price, too. Sound and audio quality are well balanced, too. Each DVD comes in its own case and the three cases slip into the main cardboard case.

My husband and I have been long-time fans of The Hunt for Red October and he was aware there was at least one more movie with the character of Jack Ryan in it. I found this series and got it for him for Christmas. It did not disappoint. For anyone who likes suspense, twists and turns, all in a good plot, this is a great set to add to their collection of DVD's. We think all three movies were well done and are a worthy addition to our movie library.

Tom Clancy DVD Box Set (Special Edition) This is a wonderful series of films. Tom Clancy's superb Jack Ryan series of thrillers was turned into an exiting and fast-paced series, although the plot strayed far from the original plot of the books. The first - "The Hunt for Red October", features Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan (although the credits on the DVD give predominance to Sean Connery's role as the Soviet submarine captain), while in "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger" the role of Jack Ryan is taken by Harrison Ford. A fourth, more recent Jack Ryan film ("The Sum of All Fears", with Ben Affleck in the Jack Ryan role) is not part of this trilogy of DVDs. Tom Clancy DVD Box Set (Special Edition)

Surprised I never bought this box set ages ago. The only film I have is "Hunt For Red October" and that's on VHS!! Great action films, though I'm surprised Alec Baldwin only played the lead character, Jack Ryan, just the once. Excellent purchase, the DVDs are in great nick.

Three very enjoyable DVD's arrived in good condition, no strong language or sexual content just a trio of entertaining viewing if you like these sort of films

Die Filme, vor allem Jagd auf roter Oktober mit Sean Connery, sind spannend bis zuletzt. Vor allem die Ubootgeräusche und die "Stille" im Meer sind berauschend und nervenaufreibend. Die Geshichte ist so aktuell als Angst vor einem Atomkonflikt, dass ich sehr aufmerksam mit meinem Bruder den Film verfolgt habe.
