I guess I understand what they are trying for here, that this will essentially handle two tube sizes - 1/2 to 1/4. The end result is that it just simply does not work for 1/2" pipe.Unlike the blu-lock variant which slides on and is TIGHT (you aren't pulling the tube out without releasing it), this one is so loose the water pressure will just push the pipe out. Seriously the metal teeth are gripping nothing on a 1/2" blu-lock pipe.
