When I first received this item, I was honestly going to send it back. The box was pretty beat up, and the actual external drive was scratched in many areas. I held onto it, unsure what to do. Today I decided to at least try it. I plugged it into my Macbook Pro and, without any issues, it worked just fine. It took a while to back up my Mac, but it did so seamlessly. As I just did this today, I have no idea how durable it will be in the long-run; however, I am satisfied with this product. I took off one star due to the scratches (which is really no big deal IMHO), but all in all I'm very glad I made this purchase. For the price it's a remarkable value, and it comes with the cords necessary for use (no wear-and-tear noted) as well as a handy carrying case. I would definitely recommend this.

UPDATE 11/2022 - drive failed completely. Lifespan about 2.2 years running 24/7. OK for short/intermittent use, but not for extended runtime.I just got mine and wanted to report great success and answer a few questions I see others asking. First, it comes with two USB cables, one mini-USB for data transfer and standard USB power, and a second cable with a round 3mm plug just for additional power (described as "optional"). This second power cable was not needed when I attached it to my Windows 10 PC, or when I attached it to my Arlo Pro 2 base station device. It came formatted for PC and I was able to copy files to it immediately. It did not have the One-Touch-Backup software installed (which I had expected), but it can be downloaded from the Bipra.com website.If you experience the device not being recognized, or have intermittent read/write errors, add the 2nd power cable and see if that helps. If you need that cable, you can plug it into a 2nd USB port (my Arlo Pro 2 base station has 2 USB ports if I find I need the 2nd one for stable power). You can use a 2nd port on your computer OR an external (low wattage is fine) USB adapter that you use to charge phones, etc.I expect you could use it just fine for PS4 or any other device requiring external USB storage. Hope it lasts.

Love it! Works for Wii U as needed. After my Wii U formatted it (didn't try any other way first) it had 297gb so good on this company - they must be using true Gigabytes 2^x 1024mb instead of gigabits 1000mb. Anyways, irrelevant for me - I'll never use that much room. Extended my console more than enough for downloaded games. Best part is that it can be powered (I believe necessary for Wii) with a USB plug! That is hard to find these days, most things don't assume you need the power or they give you a wall socket. Both USB cords go into the back on my console and everything works great and fast.Update: loved this so much that I ordered a second one. Both on my fireplace heart/entertainment center and barely visible - only one is visible at that. One on Wii U, one on DVR. Had to format both to NTFS for my application - not a big deal and still appropriate to start with ExFat anyway

Does what it claims it does. I was originally slightly disappointed with the metallic encasing. It gave me the impression that it was a subpar product. However, I think I was wrong. It's been working well (no issues) for the last month or so.It comes with two cables that end in a USB 2.0 (NOT 3.0, Make sure that you buy another hard drive that DOES support USB 3.0. This does NOT.) One of the cables is for data transfer between the hard drive and the pc, and another is to power the harddrive. Because of this, make sure that you have 2 unused ports on your phone because you'll need them to have the hdd functioning.I will make sure to update this review if the product performance changes.

This product works perfectly on the WII U, it has two usb outlets, one that which powers the device, and the other that connects with the WII U. It is powered by USB 2.0 which is what the WII U outputs. Note that it does take TWO USB ports on the back to operate, however that being said, it's got all the memory you need at a fantastic price, and if you're interested in Wii U storage, I would highly recommend this product.

This hd arrived early and backed up my PC hard drive fast. I have been perfectly happy with it. It's USB 2.0 which I wanted for an older PC back up.

Excellent price and happy that it has 2 cables rather than the usual y cable . Can thus use a USB charger to supply power to it rather than blocking both USB ports on my laptop.
