The Ancestor Syndrome
E**G
How complexes get passed down for generations.
Anne Schutzenberger introduced me to this “ancestor syndrome” at the right time in my practice to understand how psychological complexes get passed on from generation to generation, including depression, suicide, etc. Including the mechanisms by which this happens, and the form of psychotherapy which can best confront this syndrome (Genograms etc.). Highly illuminating for anyone conducting or undergoing psychotherapy.

Love the case studies
This book is profound in its recognition of family patterns that are passed through generations - sometimes down and sometimes sideways. It is written by an in-depth practitioner for other practitioner so the structure of the language was different for me, a lay person, to read. Even so, the theories and examples are clear, concise and motivating to find out more about my family history. There are patterns in my family - of accidents on repeated dates, for instance - that this book helps identify sources of and helps my understanding of why it's important to understand reframing history. The best part for me are the case studies.

Not Helpful
This book doesn't give you much information. Just re-hashes data. I should have just looked up the subject on Google

This book is absolutely fascinating. For anyone interested in psychology r personal development or want to understand patterns in illnesses or behaviours in families, through generations I would thoroughly recommend this book.I have been researching my family trees and have already seen recurrences of the same dates transgerationally. This book will amaze you! And the case histories are there to prove the point.
