Lace shoe Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Soles are separating
I love the look of this style of Dr Marten shoe, however I had an issue with my last pair (purchased in a store) where the sole of the shoe at the toe became unglued and would flop around like a broken flip flop. Thought it was a one time issue. I just bought two more pairs in different colors on March 5th. Now exactly 2 months later it is happening again. Not sure what is going on with the manufacturing process or products but this is not the quality I am used to with Dr. Martens. This unfortunately may be my final pairs ever.

Stitching broke
These shoes were delivered February 7 2021. I have warn them 3 times. The 1st time for about 6 hours. The 2nd time for 4 hours and the 3rd time for 2 hours. As you can see in the Attach photo the outside left shoe split where the tile meets the laces. I own another pair of Dr Marten’s that I bought in 2006 in Germany on a US Air Force base that are well used and still going strong. So to get the new ones and they brake like that after 3 times of barely wearing them I’m supper disappointed in them. You can also tell that they are made cheaper from the pair I bought in 2006. They are no where as heavy duty or made as well. You can feel the difference just by holding them in your hands and feeling them.

No Longer Quality / Product or Company
I have purchased Dr Marten shoes for over 15 years. They have been the most durable and comfortable product. They stood up to the construction industry. I am so disappointed with this company that I am moving on to another brand. I purchased this item in January to have as a back up pair. I didn't start wearing them until August. The stitching came undone near the toe. I contacted Dr. Martens and went through their warranty process. I had to ship the shoes back to their Factory in Oregon on my expense. They notified me that this style was not available in the "warranty inventory". I was told to choose another Style. It didn't make sense, since I could purchase another pair of this style on their website direct, or even on Amazon. I chose another style from their website, they said the same thing. It was not available in their warranty inventory. There really wasn't any other styles that I could use for my line of work. After three or four rounds of emails, I was told to pick a different style. I eventually used the warranty credit to purchase a pair for my daughter. If you're thinking of purchasing Dr. Martens, read their new warranty section. Their warranty no longer has value for me. I will not be purchasing Dr Martens in the future.

Not at all what they once were!
These shoes are terribly uncomfortable. I literally just threw out a pair of docs that was about 12 or more years old. They didn’t look to bad and were still just as comfortable as the day I had bought them. It was my third pair. They weren’t worn all that often but they were showing their age. I received this new pair. I had read reviews saying how they’d changed and that they were uncomfortable. I decided everyone surely couldn’t be accurate with their reviews as they claim to have kept quality and original designs, etc when they were purchased by another company or whatever happened. I wore these not even one day, an hour in and I couldn’t stand them. They squeak across concrete, my laminate floor, and they’re so uncomfortable. I went today to buy some $22 Walmart shoes to replace those. It’s sad such a great company has went down so terribly. They’re still great looking shoes. They certainly need to bring back a softer sole, and the insoles as well need to be brought back or be redesigned to include memory foam like many other shoe companies have began using. Either would be an improvement over the lack of quality and cheap garbage they’re now using.

Great Shoes!
These shoes are honestly just what I was looking for, a stylish rugged oxford with great comfort and high-quality construction. I've admired these shoes online for a couple of months now, but I wasn't sure how they would feel in daily wear. Some Docs have a reputation for being stiff and uncomfortable, and these look like pretty heavy shoes on spec. When I got the shoes, all my concerns evaporated. First of all, they're not any heavier than the Timberlands I just retired. They're surprisingly light and amazingly comfortable. Moreover, they fit perfectly true to size. I'm a 14 in athletic shoes, and the 14 I ordered fits like a glove, both in length and width. There hasn't been any break-in period for these shoes because they flex generously when you walk despite the fact that they sport safety outsoles. They're actually a comfort upgrade over the Timberlands I've been wearing for two years now.Aside from practical concerns, these shoes are beautiful. The leather is amazing. It's the finest distressed leather I've ever seen. It's richly oiled and smells amazing! And the shoes look great for everyday wear, nice enough for the office but stylish enough that they don't look dowdy when I wear them out on the weekends. My only warning about these shoes is that the insoles are very flat. If you have high arches like me, you're going to need to add some type of arch-supporting insoles to make these shoes comfortable. Fortunately, I already have a good pair of insoles, so I re-used them from my other shoes and everything was fine.Bottom line: these are outstanding shoes, the best pair of oxfords I've ever owned. I'm picky about my shoes, too, so that's not meaningless praise. These rank right up there with the Adidas Superstar 2G as the favorite pairs of shoes I've ever owned.

You can’t go wrong with Dr. Martens
First, I absolutely love Dr. Martens. They are so well made of such good quality materials that they never wear out. I literally have a pair at least 20 years old that, other than being stained, scuffed and otherwise looking awful, are as good as the day I bought them. Unfortunately, these were purchased for my husband who has a problem with anything binding across the toe area. The design of this shoe is such that it wasnot comfortable for him and we had to return them. It had absolutely nothing to do with the shoe, just his weird foot. I would still highly recommend the shoes to anyone for both style and durability.

Meh...
I give them a three stars cause I did like the style from the pictures. Although...the Marten's 8 is a bit bigger than the normal 8 UK...I use them only at work so I can live with that. I work indoors in an office. I also noticed that they have discolored a bit since I bought them two weeks ago. Hope it stop or I'll return them.
