Great Recipes, Great Reminder
I enjoyed reading "The Vegucation of Robin." This book is an eye-opener and great reminder of the types of foods, good and bad, that we put into our bodies. We all know what is good for us, but we still make food choices that may cause ill effects. It may seem great at the time, but we pay for it later.Robin's book reminds us of how food has evolved (how processed and stripped of nutrients they have become requiring those nutrients to be added back), and how we can basically take control of our own healthful destiny by eating foods closer to the source...or really directly from the source. Robin is not advocating everyone become vegan, but she does encourage a more pure way of eating. There are many great recipes within this book, and I cannot wait to try them all. My only criticism would be is to provide a more detailed approach to doing the detox... maybe an example of a schedule Robin followed during a typical week a detoxing. The reading does elude to what she may have followed, but having an example of a typical week of eating/drinking would help jumpstart our own detox.

Recipes are DELICIOUS!
First I have to say, I have made 5 recipes from the books so far, and every single one is healthy and DELICIOUS! That being said, I haven't read all the propaganda in the beginning... taking a star away because I don't like her condescending tone or attitude. Giving it 4 starts because the food is amazing and I believe in healthy eating!! Buying one for my mom now :)To add to this - We have tried both Butternut Squash soups (BY FAR my favorite), the green smoothie, the kale/apple juice and the Cauliflower with tarragon and lemon. They are all so good... I should also add, we are far from a vegan or even vegetarian household, we love our meat, but having delicious veggies on the side that aren't the same old boring thing is great! My daughter and I loved making them together as well, and it is so fun picking out a new one to try. If you want some healthy recipes that will kick your same old boring meals up a notch, this is definitely for you!

Great healthy recipes
Robin Quivers' "The Vegucation of Robin" is a cookbook I was really excited to buy. Of course the recipe were the reason I wanted it, but the reading material in the first part of the book was informative as well. Ms. Quivers recounts her personal journey, from junk food junkie to vegan, explains why she made the choices along the way; her goal in writing this seems to genuinely be to encourage people to make healthier food choices. You don't have to do the cleanses, but she gives insightful information on the ones she has used. If that doesn't interest you, just skip ahead to the recipes section. The recipes I've tried so far have been really good and I plan to whip up one of her smoothies this afternoon. The recipes include juices, smoothies, soups, veggies, main courses, grains, and a variety of delicious looking desserts. The color pictures were pretty and appetizing, and she includes helpful information in the sidebar on things like how to prep mango, etc.

Interesting reading...
My husband & I are huge Howard Stern fans and have followed Robin's quest for health for years. When we, along with the rest of the listeners, heard of her fight with cancer and how well she recovered from the surgery and becoming cancer free we both said, its because she was so healthy to start out with. I bought the hardcover book for my husband and read the first few pages... It is well written and fun to read. I will also be purchasing a kindle version for myself and once I get through more of the book perhaps I'll have another star to add! I don't know that I want to change my lifestyle to a vegan one, but I look forward to some healthy recipes and eating tips. Because of Robin's passion for her own health she has done extensive research in many areas and the readers will benefit from her long quest for a healthy and energetic life.

Read this informative book about real food
Robin's book shares her journey into healthy living that can help others see possibility for themselves, especially in healing health issues related to diet. I congratulate Robin and her book for bringing light to a subject of what health really is determined by individual daily choices! Her book reveals more untruth about the accepted "Standard American Diet (SAD) There is a lot of great educational information to consider and she presents the responsibility each has to be informed to make better decisions. The negative reviews appear to be judging the person rather than considering the message of the book! I like it that Robin took charge of her life situation and was brave enough to share her road to recovery. You'll like her candor and cut-to-the-chase attitude presented throughout the book. To reveal one's self in this manner takes honesty and willingness to be vulnerable. Robin found a way to make vegan living FIT into her lifestyle and her recipes offer "easy and good tasting" answers to try for yourself.

A fun book
I think the title says it all -The Vegucation of Robin: How Real Food Saved My Life. This is a book about what Robyn feels helped to save and change her life, and how she did it. It's a funny informative book with good recipe ideas. She's just trying to show others what she learned and to help shed some light on the world of food vs health. Your correct Benjamin this book isn't for everyone...but the it doesn't need to be does it. Different strokes for different folks. I have been an RN for 26 years and I work in a hospital that practices western medicine. Robyn is a cancer survivor and is entitled to tell HER story about HER journey. I love the book and I totally understand where she is coming from. Oh I'm also a huge Howard fan and have been for the past 20 years, I love Robyn and find her delightful, but I bought this book to read about her thoughts and journey to veganism not thinking it was the new Merk Manual!!

Great read...
Excellent book. Easy to read and very educational. I would say it's a tad contradictory in that she makes a strong argument about how diet is the main contributor of poor health. Yet, she developed cancer 10 years after becoming vegan. Whilst I generally agree with her, I do think her argument is a little simplistic as there clearly are other important contributary factors. But the book is insightful and very useful as a guide to plant-based eating.

vegan resource book
This is the book I have been looking for to start down the vegan path. This is a genuine, easy to understand, and down to earth explanation on how we can avoid chronic illness. As a 17 year diabetic I thank you, you have been my greatest motivator in this regard. God Bless you for sharing your journey.
