Essential Hedge Fund Book On Critically Important Topic
Excellent - very interesting read about a highly important corner of hedge fund investing that frankly hasn't receive enough coverage. Really interesting analysis of hedge fund board of directors including great interviews with hedge fund directors. After reading this I'm convinced that governance is not something only for the lawyers and regulators to be worried about but an area that investors can play an active role in analyzing during due diligence. I've read the author's other hedge fund book and this is another great read. I also liked how timely the material is, as it covers in depth recent proposals of board of directors databases and Cayman Islands law changes in detail. I think many investors and even hedge fund pros could learn a lot from this book - I know I did. Highly recommend to those interested in hedge funds or anyone who wants to protect themselves and their business.

the book is an excellent desk reference
I was primarily interested in this book because I wanted to learn more about hedge fund directors and how to analyze them. For those interested in analyzing directors, such as due diligence analysts and fund managers, the book is an excellent desk reference. Covers the ins and outs of directorship industry including how to analyze director capacity, evaluating conflicts of interest among directors, service providers (especially administrators) and hedge funds, understanding director liability and insurance coverage, tips on how to interview directors. Being familiar with the author's other works, this is a nice compliment with the addition of interviews with fund directors. Overall this book provides spot on advice, practical advice.

Most useful hedge fund book I've read
Most hedge fund books I've read many book are too generic and don't provide useful advice on how they really work. This book covers the ins and outs of how directors work with funds and service providers. More importantly, it let's investors understand how to separate good governance from the bad - particularly in popular offshore havens such as the Cayman Islands and Malta. Very topical book.

Great Coverage of Topical Subject
I found this book to be a detailed resource. It's worth a read -- particularly for those involved with hedge fund law and due diligence. In light of the recent Cayman appeal court decision in the Weavering, I found this information to be very topical (including the excellent interview with CIMA). If I could, I'd make it required reading for any hedge fund investors.

Detailed explanations of the role of hedge fund directors
I really liked all the level of detail on the role of hedge fund directors. The scenarios in Chapter 2 and the way the book explained all the different responsibilities and delegations of directors and their interaction with service providers were very helpful.
