Excellent mouse with one huge problem
I have always liked the Microsoft Sculpt mouse, this is the sixth one I bought over the years. Its connectivity, ease of use, and buttons work well but those features are not unique to this mouse. A important factor has always been the feel of the mouse in my hand. The mouse scores well in all the tangibles except durability, which is very average based on my experience. The biggest con about this mouse is the lack of programmability for the dongle if it's lost or not available at the time. Overall, the Microsoft Sculpt mouse is a good mouse but due to the dongle re-programming problem, it will be the last I buy.

Decent mouse
Pros:PNP across devices with USB.Nice designResponsive buttonsNon flimsy shellBlue Track (uses blue LED for tracking instead of red for good recognition on dark or smooth surfaces)AffordableBig skates make for a pretty smooth slide.Cons:Very small (good for the wife/kids)Single AA battery powered (short life relative to 2xAAA)Mouse button 3 (click the scroll wheel) is a little oversensitive. Conclusion:It's a mouse. If you're just needing a basic mouse to get by for now or something to travel with or even for the kids, this will make the grade. You can buy much cheaper ones on Amazon that have more features but likely not the sturdy design. I have purchased off brands made in China before and they always seem to come either incomplete (such as extra "Just For Show" buttons that serve no purpose or are even NOT connected to the circuit board) OR they break within a few months. I paid $12 and change and I was somewhat happy with it until my wife stole it so now I'm getting another one.

Surprised that I keep coming back to this mouse.
I have tried looking for a comfortable mouse, because I have large thin hands. Originally I used larger mice, but after many hours of work and gaming my wrist and shoulder ended up developing incredible pain. I then moved to the Microsoft ergonomic round mouse, but that thing is huge and heavy, and while it is very healing for someone who is having arm pain from computer use, it is not very efficient for fast computer work nor gaming.I then bought this mouse to go with a mobile computer for work, but ended up loving it so much because it fits perfectly in a claw finger grip with large hands, and I can be very effective with only using my fingers. The rubber sides are very effective for finger tip mouse work, and the side to side scroll wheel is a feature I wouldn't go without at this point. I don't even use it for my portable computer anymore, it now sits under a covering wacom tablet that I draw on, and is the perfect size to blindly move my arm under the tablet and find it.Great mouse, I was considering buying a different larger mouse, but I realize that this is right for me. It certainly is not the best for gaming, but I'm getting to the age where gaming is a forceful back seat, and I'm realizing that large mouses cause my to use my wrist to aim around, which is what messes with my tendons.10/10 microsoft never ceases to impress everytime I pickup one of their products.

Its compact
Better for small hands, but so far works ok. I read other reviews saying the scroll wheel gets wonky. Had that happen with some other brands. I have couple wireless mice around (other brands) that scroll wheel stopped working. Can still use them like you could an ancient two button mouse, just lot more inconvenient. No idea why, didnt used to be a problem, but like lot of so called "new and improved", the real reason for change was that old ones last too long I guess. I will update when this happens and take away some stars. My notion a mouse should last at least 5 year, but thats just me, most seem to last around year anymore.I will say I like their side scroll feature. Though sure that doesnt help the longevity of the scroll wheel. Also find it interesting the red one is so much cheaper than the other colors. Whatever, guess red is out of style this season and they have surplus of them.Havent had it long enough to comment on battery life. I am having to get used to turning it on and off. Previous mouse turned itself on when it detected motion and off after no motion for bit time, which worked better than one would think, least no forgetting to turn it off at end of session.

My favorite mouse for the last decade
Like many others, I've been trying all kinds of mice over the years and found a good mouse to ok mouse. This mouse provides the best click feedback, not too loud, not too quiet. I love the solid thud feedback that gives firm reverberate in my hand. It couldn't be replicated in another type mouse which usually has a clicking sound, which I don't like. Another thing is the solid steps in the middle mouse scroll. It's to the firm side and will not spin at all, which I love. Some mouse will do a freaking wheelie and spin the thing like crazy. This one will never spin! I also like that the pad is one big piece instead of tiny pads on corners. Those tiny pads will come off the mouse when you use it too much. This mouse pad never comes off, even after years of abuse all day. The only downside to this mouse is that Microsoft stopped production years ago. So you have to use the old stock, I got one every five years or so and hope it never runs out.

Nothing but Microsoft mice for me!
Over the years I've tried several different brands of mice. When doing a search for a new mouse Logitech is almost always at the top of the list and they are decent enough but I always seem to come back to M/S. This one is no exception. The price point simply can't be beat. Just the right size for my hand and the wool blue is a very nice shade. The item description says compatible with newer version of Windows but it works perfectly on my older Vista machine and it truly was "plug-n-play". The click is soft and not noisy but very solid and the scroll wheel has just the right "feel" for me. I'm done with other brands, nothing but M/S for me from now on.
