Wilton Dimensions Dimensions Needlepoint Kit, Red Poppy Trio, 14'' x 14''

This is a beautiful needlepoint and goes pretty quickly. It lost a star because the map is very vague, no stitches to count, and also some of the colors stamped on are so similar I could only work on parts of the thing in the morning when the sunlight was bright. Anyone with even the slightest color differentiation difficiency will have a hard time doing this one. It would have been so much more helpful had I been able to count stitches. Other than that, as you can see, it turned out gorgeous.

Very pretty, the colors are gorgeous! But only 3 stars because I am a very experience needlepointer and have done several Dimensions kits but this one was the hardest (by far!) to tell which colors went where. The colors on the canvas were so close in hue to each other it was almost impossible (even with a lighted magnifier) to tell where one color ended and a different color began.

I am brand new to needlepoint, but have done many other crafts (knitting, crocheting, felting etc.) and I do know that there is a learning curve....but, this is just too overwhelming. I can't tell where one color begins and ends. My eyes are crossing. I've put it away for now. Will take another shot at it in a day or so, but don't expect much. If nothing else, I'll just use it for practice. I have another kit on (different brand) order...hopefully that will work out better for me.

Ok, here’s what I will say. It’s a beautiful kit. But it is tedious. There are real problems seeing/differentiating the colors especially in the irises of the flowers. You’ll need broad daylight for those parts or a really good lighted magnifier.However. I love that it’s mostly cotton rather than wool and the colors are very vivid. So, if you’ve got lots of patience, and good eyes, you’ll love this one.

This kit contains very poor quality of thread. 90% is simply embroidery thread. If that isn't bad enough, there is not nearly enough thread to do the job. I don't know how many trips to the store I made to buy embroidery thread. To add insult to injury, I had to guess at the colors because of course the numbers do not match dmc embroidery thread. As others have noted, you cannot clearly see the stamped colors on the canvas. Also, the numbered guide page does not completely correlate with the canvas. I finally finished this project, as part of a series, but it was an exercise in frustration. DO NOT BUY.

Will make a pillow out of this lovely item, if I live long enough to finish it. LOL it did require a lot of time to figure it out the directions. I'm lightly coloring in each different color just before I start stitching it to make it easier to distinguish. Also, only 1 easily lost needle in kit. Buy more before you lose it.!

Very hard to see the colors. The directions are not very helpful.

This item is TERRIBLE! The needlepoint canvas is barely discernible, the directions are incomprehensible and the yarn quantities are not equal to the directions. A big mistake to have ordered. I have been doing needlepoint for 50 years and this is the worst product ever. By the time you discover all this it is too late to return.
