Make sure to clear CMOS for motherboard to boot
The motherboard was an exact replacement for my Dell XPS Studio PC. But, one thing that needed to be done once the PC was put back together, was the CMOS needed to be cleared before it would boot.

Works like a charm
I lost my old motherboard due to a surge from an electrical storm. I was a bit nervous because I've replaced pretty much every part in a computer over the years but the motherboard, but this worked perfectly with my system. Be sure to pay attention to what type of clips you have on your old motherboard when ordering - this one has the plastic clips on the heatsink and a similar motherboard wouldn't install properly.

Faulty Motherboards
I've purchased two of these so far, and they've both been in some way faulty. The first one had the pins bent in the CPU bay, and the second had a faulty PCIE slot. I waited too long to return the first one but I currently am waiting on an exchange for the second one.

Two Stars
My computer is still not working after switching out the motherboard.

dell XPS 8000 and 8100 motherboards
the dell xps 8000 and the 8100 are the same only that with the 8000 you will need a video card because the 8000 dose not have on board video. the 8100 motherboard dose have video (intel 4000) but you will need a cpu with graphics. a cpu without graphics will still need a video card. the heat sink fan for a 1156 socket will mount on both boards but for one without screws you will have to take the threaded inserts out so that you are just using the holes in the board.
