Works good for a Church install. GREAT VALUE!
Works good for Church install.I needed a long Pulpit microphone for a Church on a budget that some previous installer used a very short condenser along with a very poor engineered sound system with not so good results. The main requirement I had when choosing this mic... the Church needed more volume out of a Pulpit condenser gooseneck mic and was on a very tight budget. The shy teenagers simply could not be heard. This mic is not a magic fix as proper gain structure, mic placement and EQ and properly trained operator is a must as Pulpit mics can be challenging especially in a small Church as feedback can be such a challenge. However, with the extra long 22" length of this mic you have a great place to start for the pulpit location when maxim gain before feedback is a goal as you can get the mic close to the mouth! I feel getting a microphone as close to the mouth as possible is half the battle so this 22" mic fit the bill. At this price this mic is at a minimum 1/3 the price of similar mics that IMO those other mics don't sound as good or hold up as well as the Astatic.I have used the Astatic / C.A.D mics for 30 years in all areas of Church installs on and off with mixed results but I have always felt good about using the Astatic mic on a Pulpit when budget is a requirement.Compared to a Shure you do need to crank the gain up on the Astatic much more but that is not an issue for me. I have never performed any scientific study but I feel I get a bit more gain before feedback with these mics. I have never had a Cad / Astatic go down on me where other brands have. When inspecting the build quality of this mic I have no idea how they build these so cheep as they look and perform so good and have a heavy quality feel. A foam wind screen is included as well as a brace like wrap thing to give the gooseneck extra strength if needed.I just received a email from a Church telling me how good this mic sounded after my install. FYI, Astatic / Cad does make a shock mount that is optional if needed but I have never used one but on a lighter thin wood Pulpit It would be a nice option but is almost as expensive as this mic. I would like to try that mount as small condensers can sound a bit thin but adding allot of low end will pick up bumps on all but the heaviest solid wood structure. Would be nice to be able to give these a little low end boost and that shock mount may help but if you have ever had a speaker hit the mic with his / her hands low end boost is not a good thing even with a shock mount as any condenser mics go boom when hit with a hand.At this price I would recommend this mic for a budget to a mid size Church, boardroom, school , etc. If your Church has $600 budget per mic you may consider others but I actually prefer this mic to the competition in the $300 to $400 range. Better sound and less feedback at a crazy low price. Why not give Astatic a try as they have been making microphones for CB Ham Radio & teller drive-in and such all my life.Highly Recommend Product and a CRAZY GREAT Price!

Great as a Talkback mic!
We have a Yamaha LS-9/32 mixing console at our church, and it has no built-in talkback mic. So we needed a gooseneck mic that was long enough to plug into one of the XLR inputs on the back of the console and still reach forward to the operator. This mic works great for that purpose. It's longer than some, and it comes with a plastic stiffening tube that holds the gooseneck rigid in the middle, while allowing it to flex at either end. This is an ingenious (and unexpected) option that makes it work even better for us. The audio quality and pickup range are good enough that I plan to experiment with this mic at our pulpit and lectern to see if we should get 2 more for those locations.

Great lectern mic for church
I used this to replace a dynamic mic at the church lectern. So much improvement...it is small enough that people will move it directly in front of their mouth and can still read their notes on the lectern. Plus it is a condenser mic so, while it does need phantom power, it is much better able to pick up the sometimes weak voices. Since we use a board with phantom power provided, that was not an issue for us.Good sound, clear. No feedback despite the mic being mostly in front of the speakers.

Sound capture is excellent
This microphone matched our system well and both children and adults were clearly heard when used in our church. Being a novice at shopping for devices of this type, I would have found it helpful if the fact that "phantom power" is required for condenser mikes had been a footnote somewhere. Lastly, it seems odd that a simple mounting base is not typically supplied by most microphone vendors.

Great talk-back mic for the money.
I bought this mic as being used, but it really seemed in very good condition. It was packaged and shipped very well. Also worked as expected.

great mic!!!
very clear, and EQ'd nicely for voice. We installed at the ambo of our church and sound is very clear. the length is great for our lectors who are height challenged as well.09/2019 UPDATE: Recently purchased our second mic for use at the Altar. The first purchase is still going strong.

It's Fine
Not bad, wind screen fell off imediately and it needs to be a little longer but it works ok for live talkback. Feedback resistence is good.

Good product but read (if you think its plug and play)
WarningIf your board doesnt have the Fantom button it wont work!If so, it works like a charm. Crips sound, well made. Finition is excellent very happy
