What a fantastic and important book!
I have long been interested in the architectural, cultural and social history of the Coachella Valley. While so much attention has been paid to Palm Springs, and rightly so, the neighboring community of Rancho Mirage has had very little written about it. Rancho Mirage really was a town born in the Mid-Century era, and attracted the most important and influential people who made it (one of their) homes. And when they did, more often than not, it was with stellar, extravagant, modern design, by the best architects and landscape architects of the day. Melissa Riche has researched this community extensively, and has written the definitive book on the subject. Beautifully written, she offers outstanding context and then lays out the history and describes the architecture and stories in great detail. The photographs by Jim Riche are out of this world! Such a talented photographer, he captures all the beauty of the architecture and its magnificent setting. This is such a great book, by two very talented and passionate people. You will not be disappointed!

Midcentury at its finest!
I read this stunning book in one sitting. Riche has thoroughly researched and documented the outstanding midcentury architectural legacy of Rancho Mirage, California. The book has a mix of contemporary photographs by her husband, Jim Riche, vintage images, and advertising. Her historical accounts deliver great stories and the best examples of notable architects and builders working in the area and their clients. It provides readers with a glimpse of impressive residential properties few people get to experience. Mod Mirage is a testament to California desert architecture and a must for all architecture and design fans.

Schlechte Bilder
