Great book on history of San Juan, TX
Great book on San Juan's history. While the author may have made an effort to generate a complete history of San Juan it is not quite that. Still it is a great read and reference. Left out was a Merced Reyna, a businessman in the earliest days of San Juan who owned farm machinery that he leased out to the local farmers. Some of the big names in today's farming in the area leased from him in those days. He also financed business startups such as the barber shop owned by the Solis family on Nebraska Street across from the Tienda Marilla grocer. At one time he also owned a billards hall, a bar, and a gas station all next to Treviño bar, and several other residential properties in San Juan. Great book!
