Great product and shipped with care
I've operate a teak, outdoor furniture restoration service for years and Semco Teak Sealer is now the only product I use to protect and improve the appearance of teak and cedar patio furniture. It applies easily with a foam brush or rag, lasts a year or years longer than teak oil and doesn't have a varnish-like residual, making it easy to reapply or refinish the pieces when needed again. It initially cost more than teak oil but is quickly less expensive since it does not need to be reapplied several times a year. The Classic Brown looks best (the "Natural color" version is very yellow and does not look like the natural color of unfinished teak; the Classic Brown is most similar to teak oil/linseed oil) and lasts the longest. The can is packaged well in the box with a sealing ring on the top and foam rubber wrapped around, on top and under the can - an impressive attention to detail.

Worked great on teak porch
Based on other reviews, my application for this product was somewhat unusual, so I wanted to write up my experience in case it can be helpful to others. I have a new construction house with a teak porch that the builder very sloppily stained with a horrible orange-y stain. The teak was not uniformly golden (I suspect because it's a different grade than that used for furniture--some boards darker than others). I let the stain weather off over the winter and then used Golden Care Teak Cleaner to prepare the porch for application of Semco Teak Sealer. The Semco is truly idiot-proof. It was so forgiving and easy to apply and, because it is water-based, I could easily wipe any drips or splashes from the siding or white stair risers with a wet cloth. 2 coats were definitely necessary--after being poorly protected through a Northeast winter, the wood was very dry and it quickly soaked up the first coat. Second coad didn't penetrate so easily--proof the product is doing its job. I used cheap foam applicators for application and liked the way they held/spread the sealer, just learned for the future to buy a bunch because they fall apart easily. The end result is gorgeous--the brown color is sheer and subtle and just enhances the look and grain of the teak. I can't wait to see how it holds up and am looking forward to re-applying once a year because it's so easy! (It was the preparatory deep cleaning that was the hard part, and now that the wood is treated per the Semco directions I won't have to do that again).A gallon provided two coats for a porch about 17' x 6' plus stair treads, and I have a bit left over for the treads of the side porch stairs, which are also teak.

I like it
Easy to apply and looks good. Used it on a teak porch swing a couple of years ago it still looks good. Just refinished the teak on my boat it looks great.

This is an amazing product and easy to apply
This is an amazing product and easy to apply. I started using it 3yrs ago when I bought a new dining table and chairs for my deck. I sealed it immediately and continue to use each fall. I also use it on my 20yr old patio and deck furniture that has turned grey over the years. It is still grey but has a soft natural wood look and becomes lighter each year as I reseal it.

Excellent and beautiful
Love this product so far. Applied to the teak on our sailboat. Allows the teak to look natural. Looks dark at first but lightens up in just a few weeks. Hoping it will hold up well an we will do the rest of our boat. Easy to apply with a rag.

Are you kidding? This stuff is a mess !
We purchased this Semco teak sealer in 2014 based on the recommendations of the vendor who sold us the patio set. I thought we'd give it a couple of years before assessing and writing this review. We let the teak weather for a couple of weeks as instructed, then applied sealer as directed. We used the natural color. It looked wonderful at first, but we live in south Texas where it can get quite humid. The set is under a covered patio. On humid rainy days, this stuff makes a mess. It "sweats" an orange color out of the wood onto the seat pads, your clothes, the patio, and anything else that touches it. Some of the chairs also developed a deep black mold that just keeps bleeding out as well. What a mess. This year I washed it with mild dish detergent and a scrub pad, then lightly sanded it with 220 grit sandpaper. Now the teak looks brand new like it was just delivered. We are considering another sealer or teak oil product, but for the time being, we'll just bring this set out into the sun and let it bake awhile while we evaluate our next move.

Surely there's a better alternative. It's a good product and it's easy ...
Put this on my teak patio furniture, it's ok but not for the price. Surely there's a better alternative. It's a good product and it's easy to apply but just doesn't seem to be as good as the price it demands.

Easy to apply
This was my first time staining/sealing anything. I was surprised at how easy it was to apply. The product is very watery. Although it wasn't recommended, I used a small paint brush to apply. The product was very forgiving. If a drop fell onto a section, it didn't leave a round mark. I just went over it with the brush and it smoothed out. I applied 2 coats to my large new teak dining table. The brown color looks great. The product did have a strong odor when applying, but it did not linger after it dried. The product (thankfully) easily came off of my skin in the shower. I can't speak for durability yet, but my table LOOKS fantastic.
