It does discribe in detail the entire Allagash route lake by lake, stream by stream but it isn't designed to actually get you there. Buy Mr. Gilpatrick's Allagash Guide book if that is what your looking for. The Route description sets you up for the history in the the second section. Good pictures of then and now with a good bit of detail and a few folk lor stories thrown in for good measure. Like I said, if your headed to the Allagash this book will get you up to speed on the history and put you in the right frame of mind to be in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
