Excellent, But Not Easy, Many Complicated Aspects of Modernism Concepts Discussed
I completely enjoyed this book. It was used as an actual supplemental text for a college course for one of my children. I then read it my self as part of my self education in literature.I need to state that if I had read this book several years ago, I would have been completely bewildered. There are numerous references to authors and their works that I would have been completely unfamiliar with. As it turns out I have read a significant number of these works. However I clearly missed many aspects of modernism in my reading. So much so that I am going back and rereading numerous texts. I am starting out with Samuel Beckett’s “Murphy”. I intend to read “Murphy” from the perspective of this book “Modernism”.The second author I am studying from the perspective of Modernism is Katherine Mansfield. Specifically I am reading her short stories including “The Garden Party”. I am also rereading James Joyce. This book, in and of itself is not lengthy. However it is jam packed with many references involving other works. This is one of those books that will take me years to really digest. Thank You for taking the time to read this review.

A very useful coverage.
Many students will find enough in this book to enable them to gain a sufficient understanding of the complex and rather indeterminate subject which is 'modernism.'I consider it clearly presented and engagingly discussed. I have no hesitation in recommending this text.
