Pool & Spa Pump Shaft Seal 5/8" Replacement For PS-1000 AS-1000

This is an excellent pump shaft seal. I had to replace the motor in my pool pump this spring and I needed this part. It does the job and at a good price. This was right in the middle of the pandemic so it worked out very well.

Disassembly and cleaning of pump was the hard part. Installation of the seal was easy. Note: Do NOT touch the seal faces. Oil from skin can cause premature degradation.My pumps seal was leaking tremendously and I thought it was time to get a new pump. After I got stuck in that rabbit hole, I decided to just replace the seal. The pump had been out of commission for a few weeks, and the pool turned into an algae-filled pond.Once I got the seal (three days after ordering it), I installed it, cleaned the pool filter, added some chlorine, and, within one week, the pool was/is azure blue and crystal clear! We are thrilled.The speedy recovery was due to sweeping the algae, coating the pool, towards the pool creaper/sweeper each day. It was like using a broom with a vacuum cleaner.It was amazing and the whole project took about $30 for the seal and the chlorine and about five days of sweeping.

It's a seal. Appears to seal after a week of use.

We did not get to use the seal at all since we found out that it was not just a motor needs a repair, but filter and booster pump, leaking pipes, etc. It is time to have the entire pool filter/pump replaced after 40 years of using.
