The Devil's Cut

When I found out this album was coming out I knew I had to buy it. So, it came out... and I bought it. I was not disappointed. This has some old school flavor with a little bit of maiden and priest flare to it. However, White Wizzard DO have their own unique sound. Don't think that this is just some recreation of the 80's with some standardized heavy metal songs. This album is much more more complex than that...From start to finish The Devil's Cut will rock your socks off. It is produced very nicely and mixed well. The whole album seems to just flow. It's like one composition that is best enjoyed as a whole. It starts off with an awesome instrumental, Forge the Steal, that you would swear Steve Harris and Dave Murray were a part of... and takes of from there with Strike While the Iron is Hot. The momentum continues until the fifth track, Steal Your Mind. This is one of two slower songs. Then it picks back up and ends with the epic, The Sun Also Rises.This album has it all, fast paced high energy songs with killer riffs and complex solos, slower well composed numbers, and I really like how there is an instrumental and an epic last track, coming in just under ten minutes long. My favorite track on the album is Lightning in my hands. It's hard, it's heavy, it's high energy and it has some of the sickest riffs I have ever heard. Kings of the Highway, Strike the Iron and Storm Chaser also stand out. The devils cut seems to be the only track that doesn't really stick out to me. Although very well done, it's just not as memorable. That aside, this album as a whole is a great listener, which is a very good thing. Gone are the days of buying a CD or a cassette just because you like one or two songs and then you find out the rest of the album is just filler or worse, downright terrible. Now, people can preview each song and if there is only one or two good tracks, then they can just buy them individually.This album has everything a great heavy metal album should have, energy, intense riffs and killer vocals. I think White Wizzard make an excellent choice selecting Joseph Michael for vocals. He has a great voice that mixes well with the bands guitar work. Vocally, he has a large range from a darker, more sinister voice to high pitched screams and wails that could shatter glass to angry and downright evil. I think his cousin Ronnie James Dio would have been proud! So, as I was saying, if you like heavy metal buy this album. It's soft, it's hard, it's heavy and it's beautiful. A great listen whether you're working out, relaxing or cruisin' down the boulevard.

It is safe to say that this album just plain "Kicks Ass!" You will not be disappointed if you love metal as much as I do.

Another CD I bought after reading about it. I was disappointed. It wasn't what I was expecting. it is good, just not my cup of tea.

This album really surprised me. This band has been through so many changes that I did not expect much. It looks like they may have finally put it all together. If you like traditional metal then get this.For anyone that knows the history of this band, I like this a whole lot better than Holy Grail's Ride the Void. It may be that Holy Grail is moving in a more modern direction and I prefer the traditional metal sound.

I heard of White Wizzaard a few years ago and liked them but this new album blows the hinges off anything they have done before. I won't go into details about each song. The album is very close to perfection. The cover art, song writing, musicianship and production is at a very high level. If you liked their earlier work you will love this.

This is good, old school traditional metal in the style of Maiden, Priest, and Dio. It's refreshing to hear quality singing and production when the current trend in metal is sludgy guitars and Cookie Monster vocals. Blazing guitars, straight forward beats, great singing. Will fit in nicely with "Angel Witch" or "Denim and Leather".

The Devils Cut ist vielleicht das beste klassische Metalalbum der letzten 10 Jahre und keiner hat es mitbekommen. 9 NWOBHM-geprägte Hymnen für die Ewigkeit. Schade, dass die Band nach diesem Album zerbrochen ist...

Mir fiel die Bassstimme in Steal Your Mind am Radio auf, da war's um mich geschehen und ich musste diese Scheibe kaufen :)Cooler Sound, den die Jungs da abliefern!

mal wieder gab es ein neues line-up für white wizzard. entweder ist der bassist keine einfache person, oder er weiss, was er genau will. zumal er eh alles selbst schreibt und einspielt (außer schlagzeug und solis).alles in allem ein gelungendes album. zum letzten album ist es für mich eine klare steigerung und der neue sänger fügt sich auch gut ein. bin auf die europatour sehr gespannt!
