Expandable Top and Bottom Cupholder
Even though this has a Hopkins name, it is the same exact unit as the old SpillMaster. Not sure if the new grey plastic is as durable as the original black so I will update in the future. If it is, my first one lasted 10 years of regular adjusting and use. I have a Silverado which has the cupholder low and in front of the console. It is 2 cupholders with a 2" tray in front of them. The size of this requires an additional space beyond the OEM holder. To adjust, you have to open the top all the way and flip up tab on the bottom, slide open until some light tension in the OEM holder and then flip tab back down. It has a cam action to tighten in cars cupholder. The cupholder itself has a tab, as seen in the photo on the front, that you pop out, slide adjustable holder to fit your cup or can, then snap tab in. I just reach over the top front and use the back part of my index finger to pop it out. It does not take much effort. I put a 34oz coffee mug from Schraders in it and it holds it well. I regularly adjust for different bottles, cans and cups and the unit has always worked well. After around 1000+ adjustments, the upper front portion cracked slightly and you cannot snug it up as well. I liked the original so much, I hunted high and low to find this exact replacement. Caution: If your cupholder don't have extra room that forms a bit of a shelf around them, providing extra support for the extension part, you probably don't want this unit.

Simple and secure once you get the hang of it
The pictogram directions are useless. The few other reviews that gave instructions helped somewhat so thanks for those. Basically here's how I did it: On the end of the large top cupholder you will see a black lever - pull it out to free up the top (large) cupholder (it will only slide out about a quarter inch) and pull back on the gray piece which holds the lever you just pulled out. Now to adjust the holder where it fits onto the vehicle's cupholder: You will see two black tabs that is under where the cup will sit, one is longer than the other. Pull UP on the short one first (it will only pull up a quarter inch) then pull up on the end of the longer black tab next to the shorter black tab. When you pull up on the longer black tab it will be straight up vertically. Now with everything loose, place the unit into your vehicle's cupholder, then pull the unit's legs apart so it fits snug into your vehicle's cupholder space. Now push down on the longer vertical black tab which is vertical, until it sits horizontal again (when doing this, the legs will slightly expand to fit your vehicle cupholder cutout more snug). Now push down on the smaller black tab (next to the longer black tab) to lock it into position in your vehicle's cupholder space. That's it - add your favorite size cup, then slide the gray piece legs which adjusts to your cup to fit, then slide in the black tab (the very first one you slid out). Done.I read a few reviews where they said this cupholder eats up more than one cupholder space. Not in my car, and I have a Saturn Ion where both cupholders are small and close together. If you look at The Hopkins cupholder you will see that one and has the top and bottom pieces all in line vertically. That end doesn't adjust, so I just placed the Hopkins with that part facing the other cupholder spot in the car and have no problems using my car's other cupholder. I hope this review helps.

Does not fit in front cup holders of 2016 Honda CRV.
Unless you want to block the second cup holder and even then, the design of the console makes it almost impossible to install securely. It will only work on a cup holder that is perfectly round, no straight edges like in the CRV. The materials are very flimsy and the top slider can get caught on the bottom adjuster. I snapped off the locking tab by exerting very little pressure. It is a thin plastic tab designed to lock the cup holder into place by pushing down on it. For what it is designed to do, it is not nearly sturdy enough. I had seen some of the reviews talk about it not being sturdy so I was trying to be ultra careful and not over-tighten it. It snapped off anyway after a few tries at getting the adjustment right. First few tries, it was too loose in the cup holder. The third try the plastic tab snapped off. If your cup holder is part of a console that is not perfectly level all around and not completely round, this item probably won't work for you. I did not get that far, but it would probably not hold up well using it for a 32 oz. stainless double wall water bottle, which is what I bought it for. Too heavy when full. I really wanted this to work because I did not want to have to constantly switch between two water bottles depending on whether I would be driving or not. I tried it on the cup holder in the door too and the arm rest built into the door would interfere with a taller bottle. Also, it would only work if you have long legs and keep the seat back quite a way. I have short legs and the door would not have closed without the cup holder coming into contact with the seat.

Made it work
I agree with the other reviewers that the written directions that come with this cup holder are not worth a darn. I stared and stared at their picture and tried replicate what I saw happening but could not lock or unlock the lever to adjust the portion that goes into the existing cupholder. Somehow I got it unlocked by accident, and then had no idea how I did it. The bottom line is that the mechanism to adjust and lock the portion that goes into the cupholder is not made very well. If you do manage to get it open (kind of feels like you are breaking it - and some said they DID break it) it is nearly impossible to lock it into position with sufficient pressure to hold it in place in the cupholder. I finally just locked it shut a few notches shy and then wrapped paper towel around the prongs until it fit fairly tight, and then put rubber bands around the paper towels to add a little more resisitance. It is not nearly as secure as I would like it to be, but it will hold my coffee cup while I drive - as long as I use the other reviewers method of holding it secure with my hand as I make big turns or hit any potholes! Better than nothing, but I would have been very happy if it had worked like it was supposed to.

It's fine
It's fine but if you actually have a 64oz bottle in it it will fall in a turn.

No funciona
Adquirí el producto para poner un termo de 24oz y no lo mantiene en su lugar. Se cae el termo siempre que das vuelta en el auto
