Hi. Does this microscope have a stop to keep the lens from hitting a slide?

Hi Kim, This microscope does not have a stop to prevent the 40X objective from contacting the stage. Care must be taken when using that objective. Thanks for your inquiry.

The description only mentions 50 blank slides. Does it also come with specimen slides?

Yes. 5 prepared slides are included as well. Thanks for your inquiry.

My niece needs a microscope for a gram stain ing project. Is it worth it?

You didn't mention her age. I got this for my soon to be 6 year old granddaughter, who has an avid interest in science. I think it's worth it, but if it's for a one-time project and she's not going to pursue more science other than school requirements, you might find something cheaper of decent quality. The reviews I read are all extremely favorable, so if you want to invest in this, it will probably take her through her current as well as future projects.

Am I able to move the deck forward/backward and left to right to see all areas of the slid

Hello Savannah, The Juniorscope stage does not have X-Y movement, it can only move vertically - up and down. Thanks!
