Finally! A Must Read For Boomers.
Excellent! Mr. Paul does a very good job explaining a holistic and common sense approach to retirement planning without the all too common self-serving bias most financial professionals have toward one strategy, investment or product versus another - and he does this in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. I give this book to those I know who are about to retire, it's an excellent resource.

Read this first...
Before you visit a financial planner, read this book. It will help navigate the water. It acts as your advocate. You'll come away with the skills to identify professional financial planners vs. salesmen, who might only be interested in high commissions.

Waste of time
The book was too technical and did not provide a basic foundation by which to begin charting financial direction. It did not inform me about what resources I could use to make good choices. The writer was glib.

A financial management course in miniature.
The media could not be loaded. If you are like most people, you are living paycheck to paycheck. Most people are one week away from catastrophic economic failure. What happens when you retire? If you rely on just social security, you will be in for a very rude awakening. I know. We survive on just social security. We had no idea that disability was just around the corner. This is why books like The Baby Boomers’ Retirement Survival Guide by Rich Paul are so important. We simply must educate ourselves about planning for our financial future.Rich Paul has put together a sort of mini course in financial management. He gives us some very straightforward examples of what certain terms mean and helps us to understand a little bit of strategy for managing our finances and planning for our future. The only problem with The Baby Boomers’ Retirement Survival Guide is that some of the charts and graphs are a little fuzzy and hard to read. Even with that, the book rates a solid five stars.Take it from someone who is having to survive on beans and rice in retirement, seriously, you can’t afford not to be financially prepared for retirement. This easy-to-read book gives the information you need to navigate the choppy waters to retirement. This will make a great gift for any adult. We were sent a complimentary copy of this book. A "Compass" for finding your way to a more secure retirement.
This book IS appropriately named and will benefit any "Boomer" who takes the time to read it.... I liked the fact that it is written in such a way that I DIDN'T need to STUDY it to get a great education on the subject. It is written in "Down to "Earth" language with the effective use of interesting analogies to illustrate his points. The book is aimed at "Everyday People" who have worked hard to save what they could and now just need some help understanding how to position themselves for a more secure retirement. It was like a visit with a well educated friend or neighbor who you trusted to give you the "Straight Scoop" without boring you to death by trying to show you how much he/she knows.I give it FIVE STARS for simplifying a complex subject.
