Enjoyable read, value, knowledge presented in a manner that is easy to digest.
I've read 3 technical recruiting books so far. This one was my favorite. The author has an easy style to comprehend and the book is in fact a pleasure to read. As a technical recruiter myself that focuses on recruiting software engineers in the San Francisco Bay Area, I've found this book gave me enough detail to give me a solid foundation with the technology to have the ability to converse intelligently with the different engineers I speak with on a daily basis. For what the book contains, and the style it's written in, I have given it 5 stars. I would however, like to see additional sections that would explore some of the more recent booms in the business. I would like to see a whole section on "Cloud Computing" as well as sections on "Big Data", "Search", "Mobile", and "Gaming". Some of these are touched upon, but an expansion in these areas would make this book not only just better than it's competitors, which it already is, but make it light years ahead.

Solid and a Little Less than Spectacular
This book provides excellent foundation recruiting/IT knowledge good for a novice in the field. The language is clear, concise, and occasionally humorous with excellent anecdotes to drive points home. If I had a criticism, it would be that much of the "how to" execution on day to day recruiting was missing. The book seems to be targeted at current recruiters needing to obtain more IT background. Overall, solid; if a little less than spectacular read.

An introduction to IT for non-techies... very little on recruiting
I work in software and I'm researching how to get into staffing. I expected a lot more information on the practice of recruiting. Instead I got a very general (and somewhat out-of-date) introduction to technology for non-technical people with hardly any info on what recruiting is actually like and how to survive as one.

By far, the best I have read so far!
I have recently purchased three books for my novice recruiters and found this one to be the best by a significant margin. The book is arranged in a way that allows a more experienced recruiter to go right to the relevant topic while at the same time allowing a brand new recruiter to establish a foundation of knowledge and grow it. This book is so good that I had to purchase a second copy for my team of six recruiters as they were all wanting to read it!

wealth of information
I'm very new to the world of IT recruiting and IT in general. This book has been a huge help! I think the author has done a great job in explaining the different roles and technologies in lam ens terms for someone who doesn't have a background in IT. I found it to be highly engaging and full of relevant information.. I would highly recommend this book.

Recruiter's go to book
Good book for any technical recruiter, the technologies mentioned are a little out dated but definitely a good book for the basics

In-depth detailed and it has it all
Take this book slowly, and you will learn skim thru and you will just not pick-up what you need. One chapter a night and underline everything important. This book is complete yes expensive but complete it's now up to you how to use the information. Slow and steady type reading.

My lifeline in Recruitment
I received this book today and I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am!I was expecting an A5 book with small print etc. However, was pleasantly surprised with the large size and user friendliness of the book. It's well laid out, clear and relevant! The idea of knowing what my clients and candidates do is an exciting prospect.Thanking you again for producing such a useful tool for the IT recruitment industry. There's nothing of the sort available.I would gladly recommend this book to all those involved in IT recruitment. This includes agencies, consultancies, HR depts, even those who are interested in job roles in IT such as candidates or those embarking on an undergraduate IT course. It certainly helps to understand all the roles available and the basic fundamentals of IT.Thanks again Mr Ayub Shaikh! :)JayHarringtons Recruitment ConsultancyRecruiter and Business Development Executive

Love it!
I have only started in the IT Recruitment world and the book covers all topics related to my job. It is not very detailed, but it is perfect for a new starter who needs to create a picture of the IT Positions and know what and where it stands.
