WORKS EXCELLENTLY FOR ME AS A DUTCH OVEN
I didn't know if this glassware would work for making sourdough bread. After experimenting, it withstood my test and made some great bread. The ability to hold moisture is not quite the same as a metal dutch oven but if I spray the interior lid with a shot of water, it does just fine. Of course it will also depend on humidity and other factors as well when making sourdough but as far as this item, it did great. This cookware really did a great job and I am very happy about the results and quality.PROS:Unlike a metal dutch oven, this glassware does not need to be preheated as I discovered. It gets hot immediately and there is no need to preheat it. It works better than metal in my opinion and you can also see the bread rising and know about when the temperature change needs to happen because you can see it right there.I tested it at 520F degrees and it was fine. I bake sourdough at 500 and the glass immediately adjusts well. You can see through the glass and watch the rising and easily gauge when to lower the oven heat without removing the lid prematurely.Another pro is that the bottom doesn't burn as easily as it does with a metal dutch oven.It also allows more "room" to rise than my 5.5 qt metal dutch oven. I attribute that to the fact that the 5.5 quart round Dutch oven does not allow elongated expansion and the crumb often comes out tighter in the metal dutch oven.CONS:Because most sourdough recipes assume you are using a metal dutch oven, the bake times of lowering the oven heat may not be the same. You will have to experiment.Other things I learned along the way with this Glass Dutch oven:What I did that seems to work well for me is I preheat my oven to 500° for about 30 minutes. My oven is old and takes a long time to heat up. I put a cookie sheet in the nearest rack below my baking rack which is usually in the middle somewhere. This will keep the bottom of the bread from getting too dark or burning. This is a common problem even with metal dutch ovens. I had less of a problem with this with the glass Dutch oven. The solution I use is to put a layer of parchment paper first and then sift some corn flour lightly over the parchment paper on the bottom of the glass pan. Then I put my parchment and dough on top. I make sure my parchment paper is cut down so it will not creep up on the sides of the glass dish because I want the sides to brown as well.I set the oven at 500° to warm it up. I 8nclude a side oan of water for the humidity which is necessary for sourdough. Then I lower the temperature to about 450° and out the glass pan in with the dough (scored and resting in a couple of layers of parchment paper). Two ways I bake it.One way is that I keep the lid on all the way through the baking unless I want to check it after the first 40 minutes. Then I watch it during its rising process. Another way is to remove the lid only after there is no more shine on the dough, it has a blondish color with some browning on the ear and there is no more rising. Once I see it has reached this phase and is no longer rising and the shine is gone, I take the lid off and finish the baking at 450°. It may take about 60 minutes or a little more from start to finish baking my bread with either method. This is where the glass Dutch oven helps from the metal dutch ovens. You can always see right through the glass until what stage your bread is at.What makes it a con, is that many of the recipes and advice through the videos and online are using metal Dutch ovens so you will have to adjust. But the great payoff for me is I can see what's going on through the glass! This makes it better and easier to watch and know when to do the next phase of the baking! The other issue might be for some people is that the bread does not come out in a round boule but a little bit oblong (but not too oblong.)Would like to get this in a round model as well. Worth the price for me.UPDATE: I experimented on and off with a metal dutch oven and this glass dutch oven. I noticed that the crumb was always tighter with the metal Dutch oven than this glass Dutch oven. Using this glass, dutch oven allowed more expansion for the dough to rise in length and in height. I believe this Dutch oven is great for making sourdough in the range of 400-600 grams of flour, totaling to a maximum of 1500 g of total weight. In my opinion, it is tops. I am going to get the larger size for larger loafs but will keep this and use this for my daily bread making! I couldn't be happier!

Very well made, but a bit on the expensive side.
Has been working perfectly for my homemade bread.

I like it a lot!
I love how smooth this glass is. This is my first piece made by this brand and I want more! It is so handy to have the lid made like this one. I often bake several sweet potatoes at a time. This lid allows space for that bit of potato that always sticks up a bit too high for the flat style lids.

Does a great job for what it is intended for and is versatile and can be used as a smaller open pan.

Works Great!
Our grocery store started selling rotisserie chicken in plastic bags instead of the handy hard plastic domes. What to do with the leftovers? I used a casserole dish a few times, but then when I needed it for other meals I typically use my casserole dish for, well, I was short a dish/container. Came on amazon and found this. It's bigger than we needed, but it does the trick. I wouldn't mind if it was just a little smaller. I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure it would fit two organic roasted/rotisserie chickens because of it's length. Maybe not for cooking, as there wouldn't be enough room around it, but for storing in the fridge. This is a heavy thick glass. Washes great in the dishwasher. Will last forever.

Flawed
I purchased this to use as a sourdough bread baker. The casserole is very attractive but has a small flaw inside the lower corner. It looks like a cinder became trapped as the glass was formed. It is very small and perhaps heating the dish to the high temperature required to bake my crusty loaves will not cause it to crack, but I will always be uneasy when I use it. The first thing I did when I discovered the flaw was to look up how to go about exchanging it. What I found were several letters from disgruntled buyers who received casseroles that were defective. They sent them back only to receive broken ones in exchange. Since we are in the middle of the Christmas package rush, I have decided to wait until after the holidays to attempt a return.I have placed the dish in the oven with an inch or two of water inside and baked it at 400 degrees for an hour. So far so good. Before I return it, I plan to attempt a loaf of bread. Even if it does not break, I will give it only 4 stars. The flaw should have been caught before it was sent out. I would have expected to find such things if I were buying seconds at the outlet mall, but this was not supposed to be a second! I will never enjoy cooking in this dish because I will always be waiting for the sound of glass cracking and having to deal with the mess it makes of my oven when it breaks and spills food.

Does the job perfectly
Bought this dish primarily to bake bread. I needed to be confident that glass could withstand the high temperatures I use, and so far I’ve been very happy. Don’t have to worry about burning myself using caste iron anymore because no preheating necessary with this dish. Baking time takes a bit longer, but I like being able to see what’s happening thru the glass. I can still get a nice crisp crust and great results. Cleanup is a breeze.

After contactingMillvado/Amazon on 2024-29-03 received reply that representative will reach out to me within 72Hrs !After few more inquiries and 100Hrs waiting decided to share my horrible experience!
