Best birthday book!
I received my first copy of this book in 1955. Still giving it as a baby gift 67 years later. Hugs never go out of date! Plus babies learn the names, sounds, and products of farm animals.

Nice book for kids with moms they love
Very sweet book. I would only purchase it for small children who has a mom involved in their lives and who adore their mom! Preschool children are the ones who enjoy it most.

A Bear Hug for Mom!
Danny has no inspiration on what to get his mother for her birthday so he decides to go ask the farm animals. First he sees Mrs. Hen who offers him a nice fresh egg but Danny's mother already has an egg so together they skip along until they meet Goose. She offers Danny feathers for a pillow but Danny's mother already has a pillow. The story goes on as they meet various animals (goat - cheese, sheep - wool, cow - cream) but none of them can offer Danny anything that his mother does not already have so Cow tells him to go see Mr. Bear over the hill. All the animals are too scared to go with him to visit Mr. Bear so Danny has to go alone. Mr. Bear suggests giving his mother a bear hug :)Lovely book for little ones :) Highly recommended from our house to yours!

Part of Carden School Curriculum for three-year-olds
This book is part of the curriculum for 3 year-old children at private Carden schools, along with Good Night Moon. Both are Classics and belong in every child's library. The pictures, although sketches, look like the real animals, which is a plus compared to many cartoons, and the premise Disney's more modern Baby Einstein is based on too. It introduces children to the Real World. It also teaches the quality of being giving and sharing what you have, and how a gift doesn't always have to be tangible, since a hug can be a great gift to give and receive too.

This book is pretty informative for kids
This book is pretty informative for kids. In the form of a story it teaches them the sounds each animal gives and the products obtained from animals. The language is also simple enough, barring a few words so my son can understand most of the English words used in this book.
