Steel Seal is For Real! It Worked for me.
This product really works! Besides that, they have the best customer support I've ever encountered in the automotive realms. My Subaru Outback was a gasket basket-case and the other inferior goops and leak fixes not only failed-they made matters worse. STEEL SEAL did the job and the engine hasn't overheated in months now... Great product-great company.

Buyer Beware
The bottom line for this stuff is that it might work or it might not. The ONLY right way to fix a leaking head gasket is to replace the gasket and possibly resurface the cylinder head if it is warped. Yes, this can be very expensive if done at a independent shop or dealer but if you are able, do the job yourself and save a lot of cash. I am doing the job myself for less than $400 including a new timing chain kit, head resurfacing, hoses, thermostat and a radiator. This "magic green stuff" not only didn't work, it clogged the cooling system on my 2004 Honda Element. Steel Seal support says it doesn't do that but I could see down into my radiator from the cap that channels were clogged. My engine nearly overheated during a short test drive after the treatment. Heed the warnings here and in the other negative reviews. You are rolling the dice with this stuff: might work, might not. Might clog your cooling system. You have been warned. On a positive note, Steel Seal was responsive to questions and did ultimately refund my money. Just be nice to them and you will get responses.

It just works
The media could not be loaded. I had a check engine light on with ABS light. Did the usual fixes - changed the fuel cap, reset the codes, etc. As the car was 100k plus miles, so replaced the spark plug. After a while the check engine light came back. The code check was P0304 - cylinder 4 misfire. It was a head gasket leak - bubbles in radiator and smell gas in coolant. Got the hydrocarbon tester from OReily's and it confirmed. I checked the engine oil cap but it didn't have any residue. I also removed a little engine oil to check if coolant had gone into engine. I didn't find any major trace of coolant. However, the coolant was going down and I had to fill up coolant once a week. This is when I decided to try the head gasket sealer. I removed the thermostat, filled the radiator with normal water. Followed the instructions mentioned in the pack. Once I added the sealer, kept engine running for 30mins. After this, I drove the vehicle for 15 - 20 mins on free way at 3000rpm. Left it to cool overnight. I had reset the engine codes and drove the car around. The check engine lights didn't come on. I have been driving the car for more than 3 months now. I had no issues with this - no check engine light, no gas smell in radiator / hydrocarbons.I can only upload one video, hence can't show the video where there are no bubbles.

Disclaimer * Before using this make sure your oil doesn't look cloudy and milky. If this is the case your head gasket is broken on the inner side and water is leaking into the oil. This product will not fix that issue dont waste your money.*Okay heres the thing, this stuff does work BUT you have to follow the instructions to a T. If you think you're going to just poyr this stuff in and drive off you're going to waste your money. You have to make sure the cooling system is flushed out and the only thing in your system is water. Run it at the stated rpm range for the amount of miles instructed by the bottle and let it sit till its completely ice cold cool. I let my car sit over night. For the first week keep an eye on the coolant level and top it off with water and take it easy with the throttle for a while. Drive conservatively for atleast a week.I went from putting a quarter gallon of water in my radiator every morning before leaving the house to only topping it off a little bit to not having to put any water in as the week went on.

2002 Chevy Tracker with 2.0 4 cyl.
It stopped my head gasket leak alright. Also plugged up the heater core and I don't know what else, because it overheats now. Heater worked fine before, and it never did overheat. This stuff is very expensive, and I thought it would be great stuff. Says it's guaranteed or your money back and I don't know about that either???? I will NEVER use this stuff again.

My car with cracked head should be salvaged over a year ago but this stuff keeps it running fine.
Absolutly saved me thousands in new car. The car is a lexus ct200 hybred and something either head crack or gasket crackmade it start bangling like th eengine was going to pop out of the hood. I have used this 4 times since about every 6 months and it is still runing fine after 3 mechanics told me the engine had to be replaced.

These products are crap-shoots. I crapped-out on this one.
Like the title says, if you are trying to cheap-out and avoid a head gasket replacement, this is one of the options. It is hyped on several YouTube channels and I know a mechanic that used it himself and it worked out. However, it did not for me, and may have damaged the heater control for the interior heat - not sure about that though. It did not seal the head gasket very much. Maybe it helped a little, but I had to eventually use another product that worked better (am I allowed to name it?). One big disadvantage is how much you have to add. This bottle says it's only for up to 4 cylinders and I should have used two bottles. Sorry, that's just too much money and stuff to get into my radiator. I only had access to the overflow, so two bottles wouldn't even fit. I could not find the drain stopcock (I'm not a mechanic) so I couldn't remove some of the existing fluid. I had to let the level go down from the leaking head gasket (came out as white smoke at startup) before I could gradually add this whole bottle into a V6 Toyota. If the top head had been the problem I would have had the gasket replaced but the bottom head is inaccessible, so the engine has to be hoisted out. I'm just not going to put that kind of money into a 150,000 vehicle. So, bottom line is, it's too much money, too much liquid, and insufficiently effective. I was offered a partial refund, which I accepted. Message me through Amazon if you want to know the successful product I came across at NAPA.
