what color is the sponge refill. Is it model 002 09 0118? Is it an easy tool free replacement?

It looks like it is a "sea foam green" in color. I don't have a model number on my sponge but there is an ID number of "XOOMS9VFL" on the back of the packaging. Yes, it is very easy to take off the old sponge and put on your new one.

The dimensions given on the back of the packaging are "2 in x 4 in x 9 1/2 in"

Quality of sponge seems different from original which is blue and much thicker and more durable. Why is this sponge different?

It's definitely not the same quality as the original and the mop is discontinued. I would recommend going with a new mop all together and not purchase these refills.
